This is a nice little hotel in a lovely, quiet section of the city. As with all moderately priced hotels in Amsterdam, it has no elevator or air conditioning. The staff gave us a room on the lowest floor possible and carried our bags for us, up and down the stairs. That was nice since we were packed for a...

This Hotel has character and an interesting decoration. The room we had was facing the canal and very quiet. Despite the curtains not providing a full black out, we did sleep very well. The view was quite romantic from the balcony where two chairs were conveniently provided. It is perfectly located from a public transportation point of view (i.e. close...

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Bridge Hotel for 2 nights and loved it! It is in the perfect location, a quick tran ride from the train station and an easy walk from the tran stop. I was a little nervous by the look of the lobby when we walked in but our room was adorable. Newly renovated (including...

Our four days in Amsterdam where wonderful thanks to our stay at The Bridge Hotel. The breakfast (included in the price), was really wholesome. All types of bread, jams, boiled eggs, cold cuts, fruit, juices, coffee and tea. Just what one needs to begin the day. The location turned out to be excellent, within walking distance to the Waterlooplein tram...

Loved the setting! We sat in front of the hotel with a great view of the Amstel. Hotel staff were helpful and informative. Bed was very comfortable. Good shopping, eating, and entertainment close by. Hotel near metro stop and canal-boat stop. Loved the variety at breakfast. The only drawback is the amount of stairs for those who carry lots of...

Stayed at this hotel for a couple of days as part of an official function in Amsterdam. The hotel is at the Amstel canal in the center of Amsterdam. So the location is pretty fantastic. Easy walking distance to just about everywhere. The hotel is 3-star, so middle of the road. The rooms are pretty basic. My room had a...

First time in Amsterdam. Stayed three nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had a good size bedroom and shower room as well. Location was centralized and close to tram service (neighbour to the Koninklijk Theater Carré and a stone throw away from the Skinny Bridge). View was from the back side of the hotel, but hey, we were not there...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
