Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Weichmann is a good hotel and mostly advertises what you get. We booked a Canal View and yes we did get it, just. If you stood on your toes and peaked out the window you would get a glance. No false advertising, but just not what you expect when you see the photos. Then again, you are in Amsterdam to be out an about, not looking through a hotel room window. The room was on the top floor and a tough climb with suitcases (as stated on the website), so if you have strength or mobility issues, definitely book a ground or lower floor room. The room itself was okay, but noisy at night from the “partying” people below, so no sleeping with the windows open. No AC, but the fan in the room helps. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the Continental breakfast was pretty good. Location was good and a walk to anywhere of interest is quite easy. We were there mid-June 2023 and booked direct and paid 170 Euro per night including taxes (excluding local tax), breakfast and wifi.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here for 2 nights in August. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was small but had everything i needed, shower good and fan available. No tea and coffee facilities in the room but variety of coffee, hot choc and tea available in lounge along with biscuits and sweets. Breakfast excellent with good variety. Only thing to note is no lift and stairs are narrow and steep but then if you stay in a building like this you expect it. Good location to all the sites. Bus from airport stops on street behind the hotel very handy. Could be the R26 Supermarket and cafes just at end of street. One last thing they are not that keen on cards when you are out and about. A lot of places only took Maestro or cash. Would definitely stay here again

We picked this hotel primarily for its location/ proximity to the canals but also because it is comprises of a number of buildings joined together, which are of great character. The room we selected was on the top floor, as it has canal views and was the most spacious. We were warned about the steepness of the staircase (no elevator in this hotel) and this has been mentioned in other reviews but it is seriously steep and getting the luggage up to the room can be quite a feat. That said, our stay was very pleasant and as mentioned, the front door literally went directly out to a canal and bridge over. The breakfast was typically continental but fresh and adequate to start the day.

Yes the stairs are an 'issue' but we were well warned. Location, location is excellent, the rooms themselves are very good, the staff very friendly & helpful & the breakfast also is very good. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved this hotel, friendly staff, breakfast was lovely, great location for everything, spotlessly clean and our family room was enormous!! The only downside was the noise at night time both inside and outside of the hotel and this did effect our sleep. However, our room was at the front of the hotel, right on the busy corner AND above the reception and main front door so it might be quieter in another room.

I stayed 6 times there. I have never been disappointed with the rooms I was given, nor the friendly staff, nor the generous (and included !!) breakfast. Given its astounding location, I do think that this hotel has the best value of money. No elevator (usual in Amsterdam) but a lot of beautiful vintage furniture and the feeling you stay in a family home !

Location is good, way overpriced for the level of quality. Going on day 4 and our room still has never been cleaned. When I told a staff member about this I was told the hotel is crowded and there wasn't time to get to it, but they will "try to get to it" tomorrow. Have a family member with dietary issues and was told at booking that we could store something in the hotel fridge. When we got here, we were subjected to a 5 minute tirade about how even the staff isn't allowed to do this. (Well, the staff isn't paying $300 a night.) Would not recommend.

If paying for a canal view room, don't accept room 343. On the web site the pictures for the double with canal view looks nothing like 343. Sure, you can see the canal but only when standing at the window. The room is in the attic with small windows, not full length ones. From the bed and the sitting chair's you cant see the canal. I paid for the view and feel short changed. That said the hotel itself was good. Really nice staff. Fantastic location. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Besides my view issue, the room was good for a 2 star hotel. It's true what other reviewers say about the stairs...yikes.
