The rooms were clean, location is reasonable (7m walk to nearest tram) and neighborhood is quiet at night. Breakfast was reasonable, breads/ham/cheeses/cereal/... typical stuff My biggest dissatisfaction was that they are very inflexible during check in - most places would allow you early checkin if the room is ready. We arrived at 2:10pm (checkin is at 3pm) and they immediately told us the room was not ready (without even asking for a name). There were about 3 families waiting. Suddenly, at 2:50, all rooms became "ready" (again, without asking our names, the clerk informed us the room was ready). Clearly they just did not want let people in early, who knows why. On the plus side, appreciate their offer to store luggage If you have an early transatlantic flight that typically arrives in the early morning, pick another place, they are likely to get you in much before the afternoon check in.…
This was my second visit to the Hotel Wiechmann and I hope to visit again. It is a wonderful property with old world charm in the Jordaan District near shopping, cafes and canals. The centrum, museums and Dam Square are all within a 15-20 min walk. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast offerings provide a great start for the day.
We stayed 10th-13th April 2022 & thought that the hotel was fantastic. It had a charmingly quirky layout which is to be expected with a very old building. It was very clean and a credit to the housekeeping team. All staff were very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was lovely with great quality of food regularly replenished. We were in a front room on the third floor (307), the view was amazing, it was great to watch the boats cruising past. The stairs are rather steep & winding which wouldn’t do for those with mobility issues. The location was great for us being near enough to walk anywhere/everywhere we wanted to visit in the City but far enough away from the noisier parts.
The Wiechmann hotel is a good spot to be in the centre of Amsterdam. Our room was overlooking the canal with big airy windows and plenty of space. It was well equipped, with very comfortable bedding and all necessary toilet articles. A good shower too. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again
Before i start i just want to say if you have difficulty with steep stairs or you are planning a week break here and are planning to bring a large case this hotel may not be for you as the stairs are extremely steep. Having said that the hotel is in a fantastic location right on the prince canal and a mere 10 mins from Anne frank house and close to many more sights. The staff were friendly and very helpful and we could not check in till 3pm and we arrived at 10.30am but you can leave your bags at the hotel and start your break and they do have maps at reception plus we got given a handy fold away map which was very useful. Breakfast is from 7am till 10am and there is a good choice on offer and the breakfast room overlooks the bridge and canal so you can watch the world go bye while filling your stomach for the day ahead. Wifi is free and is very good and there is a supermarket just around the corner and nearest tram stop is about 7 mins away. There is a good selection of restaurants and bars close bye and even a coffee shop 2-3 mins away (wink wink nudge nudge) bike hire is available too if you fancy it. The hotel is about a 25 minute walk from central station or you can get the tram which takes about 5-10 minutes we walked there and got the tram back. Overall great hotel in a great location with really helpful and friendly staff and rooms overlooking the canal available at extra cost the only negative as i said at start for some would be steep stairs but did thoroughly enjoy my stay there. Beware of the killer bikes!…
We stayed here for 9 nights coving the weekend of the Dutch GP and then some days sightseeing. We loved everything about it. Our very large room on the 2nd floor overlooked the canal and it was filled with beautiful old furniture (a feature throughout the hotel). The staff were very friendly, welcoming and obliging. The location of the hotel is excellent, about 15 mins walk to Dam Square, 20 mins walk to Van Gogh Museum/Rijkmuseum and about 10 mins walk to Anne Franks house. Would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to revisiting at some point. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
We first stayed here in 2003 and although we have been back to the city since then, this was our first trip back to this hotel. It is easy to get to - a 6 minutes walk from the 12 tram. Yes it has steep stairs (we were glad to be in the first floor) but that’s the price you pay to be in a traditional canal house. Our room was lovely with views across the canal, a comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. Covid precautions were good, hand sanitizer everywhere, tables spaced out at breakfast and rooms not cleaned (which meant we had a bit of rubbish build up but nothing we couldn’t deal with). The area is wonderful with great shops and restaurants and a supermarket just round the corner. Staff were helpful. Next time we are back in the city, we will definitely stay here.
We visited Amsterdam last year during the April holidays. We stayed at the Amsterdam Weichman Hotel It was exactly real close Amsterdam city centre. We enjoyed a good breakfast, free hot chocolate drinks every moment. The receptionist were so kind. When we lost our luggage because we our flight was delayed it made the arrangements for us to retrieve it. Overall the view, the food, the room and the staff were so good.
My wife and I stayed here for a three day Amsterdam sight-seeing trip. I made the reservations months ahead of time. We had a room on the second floor overlooking a canal, which was very nice. There are lots of restaurants close by, the Anne Frank Museum is just down the street, and the hotel is a short walk to the tram stops. You could even walk to most of the major attractions if you wanted to. The breakfast was very good, on the ground floor, with big windows to the main street, so you could watch the city come to life. We enjoyed staying here; it could not have been any better. Recommended. Try to get a room overlooking the canal if you can.
Single en suite room on second floor. Clean, warm, quiet. Reasonable size for an Amsterdam hotel. No canal view from room. No TV in room. Normal steep stairs. Located 5 mins from airport bus stop. Walking: 10 mins Leidseplein, 15 Museumplein/Concertgebouw/Anne Frank. 15 to Jordaan. 30 to Central Station. Breakfast room overlooks Prinsengracht. Breakfast: juices, coffee, eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, yoghurts etc. Good quality. Free machine coffee in lounge all day. Staff all fine.
