Lovely hotel in a smart, quiet street. Perfectly situated for the Museums, Concertgebouw, Leidesplein etc. and easily reached by tram. Hotel charming, spotless and quiet. Lovely room and excellent breakfat the next morning.

It was a comfort to have reservations at Hotel Aalders again for my second visit to Amsterdam. The staff is incredibly gracious, helpful, and patient with questions. Guests are well cared for from room service to included breakfast. The hotel is very well located for one to visit the local art museums, street market, restaurants, and grocery store, if needed....

We traveled as a family of 4 during spring break. The family room was large even by US standards. Comfortable beds, quiet street and close to tram and museums. The front desk (Monique) was so helpful on arrival. The morning could be noisy with doors closing but that is typical at any hotel. We paid for breakfast one morning as...

Extremely tiny bed in a ridiculously small room. Permanent conversation noise from the reception. Loud noise from the corridor in the morning. Permanent noises during the night due to virtually no wall or door sound-proofing. This is a mediocre €50 hotel, not a €150+ hotel at all. (I spend 20-30% of my life in hotels so I know what I...

We arrived at this hotel early, exhausted after an overnight flight and and waited to get into the room until almost 2. This is not the hotel's fault, but a major project was happening in the courtyard next to our room and we listened to a jackhammer for 2+ solid hours once we checked in and tried to sleep. We...

Hotel Aalders is located next to the PC Hooftstraat. That's the most prestigious shopping area in The Netherlands (although it is nothing compared to other major cities, in may opinion). It is also very, very close to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. 1-2 minutes walking, literally around the corner. Although this area is busy with tourists, the street...

By far this was one of my loveliest hotel stays in the Netherlands! My view was stunning and the room private (#123) with all amenities. The breakfast/dining area was a nice trade off from typical mini bar & room service. Likewise, the breakfast room was stunning & the food great:) A special thank you to the young, tall, gentlemen at...

Our room was next to the lift, so that we were disturbed by noise every morning when the linen was delivered on a trolley some time after 06.00. The position in the museum area is very good: you can get to the hotel from the airport by bus 197 (Bus stop Rijksmuseum) and very easily into Amsterdam or round the...

Stayed for 3 nights with our 16 year old daughters. We stayed in a family room which was great. The hotel is very clean and quiet, and in a beautiful neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again... So nice to go to the Van Gogh museum for a couple of hours, then be back up in the room in about...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
