I have a reservation at this place. Their reservation desk failed to reply to all in the midst of an email conversation and as a consequence confusion ensued. When I called the desk today I was advised that no one could answer my question because it was 8pm at night on a Saturday (isn't this a hotel?) and the person...

This hotel is situated about 20 paces down a side road off Dam Square and is ideal for walking to all parts of the city. The hotel is very clean, rooms well presented and comfortable enough for short stays. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast will stock you up for a days sightseeing and all staff in restaurant are...

Rho is very conveniently located, just off Dam square, a 10 minute walk from the Central Station and walking distance to,all the city attractions. It is surrounded by great restaurants and the area has a party atmosphere after dark. Ask for a quiet room at the back, if you want a quiet time. The staff at the desk are very...

We stayed only one night before boarding a ship for a river cruise but I'd have loved to stay longer. The hotel staff were so gracious when we arrived early in the morning after an overnight flight. I thought we'd just be leaving our bags and wait for the official check in time, but to our happy surprise they allowed...

We stayed at the Rho Hotel for 4 nights during the Queens Day festivities and the investiture of the new King. The Rho Hotel is very convenient, being just around the corner from Dam Square. Our room was large, comfortable and well-equipped. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were a little lumpy, but the duvets were very nice. Windows were...

Stayed here quite a long time ago but thought it deserved a review as I came across it again while booking a trip to Amsterdam Would definately recommend this hotel to ANYONE visiting Amsterdam, couldn't be more central, literally feet away from Dam Square. Lots of shops/bars/restaraunts around, we were able to walk to the Anne Frank Museum and Madame...

Not the fanciest hotel I've ever stayed in, but the people were great and very helpful. The location was just wonderful...right by Dam Square. We stayed 4 nights and I recommend it for someone that wants a good location. We either walked or took the tram everywhere we wanted to go in Amsterdam. The breakfast was one of the best...

Don't be put off by the slightly dingy exterior - it opens out into a lobby the size of a railway station. We had a room at the back which was incredibly quiet considering the bedlam in the Dam square just yards away - not just any old annual Queen's Day holiday but a Royal Coronation to boot! Location perfect...

Stayed from 28/04/13 - 02/06/13. Great posistion, lovely room(491) at front of hotel, bit noisy first two nights, but as Queens Day understandable. Very good buffet breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.

We have been to Amsterdam many times and stayed at the Rho 5 times when the price is right. Went for Queen's Day this year (30/04/13) so it was great being just on Dam Square. If you have never been to Amsterdam this hotel is an excellent option in the perfect location. It is in fact always a good option...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
