Hotel Fita is a charming, clean, comfortable hotel right next to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseums in Amsterdam. The rooms are simple and adorable, the staff is helpful, friendly, and kind, and the breakfast is delicious. The hotel is bit of a walk to the city center, but it is a nice quiet area to come back to for a...

Great hotel, stayed with my sister for three nights in early December. Location great just round the corner from the van gogh, nice and quiet. Owner and his father greeted us and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Showed us up to our room on the second floor. It was huge which is surprising for amsterdam. Twin beds which were...

Wonderful place. I stayed here on my first trip to Europe a couple weeks back, and I could not have been more pleased with my experience. As soon as I arrived to drop my luggage, the host spent 10 minutes with me and using map of Amsterdam to outline all of the top places to see and how to get...

Hotel Fita is a wonderfully located family run hotel. It has a fantastic breakfast -: fresh fruit, yogurt, compote, cheeses, breads, croissants and warm eggs and bacon and then pancakes to die for. The rooms are fine, a bit small, but we didn't care as we were out and about so much. The shower has great pressure, is huge with...

Very enjoyable stay here, and the owners and staff are both helpful and pleasant. The hotel is quite close to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. My single room with a twin bed (#48) was on the third floor near the small elevator. Cosy, clean and comfy; bathroom a good size. Tram stops nearby with the Centraal Station destination; used...

Seven minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum, on the tram line for the Central Station and claose to the antiques area and many restaurants, this hotel was perfect. A comfortable room and bathroom, which even included a potted plant, and super-friendly hosts who cooked pancakes to order for breakfast and answered all our queries, made this the ideal choice for a...

Stayed 4 nights, wonderful experience. Family owned and operated. The owners take great pride in their customer service and it is top notch. Our room was very clean, essential amenities, and roomy. The breakfast buffet was delicious and individually prepared crepes the best. What hotel does your laundry for free!! I couldn't believe this service, but yes it is free....

We stayed here for three nights on a weekend break to Amsterdam. Great location, very easy to access from the airport on public transport. The museum district is a great area to stay in, lovely streets to walk, with good restaurants, bars and shops and easy to get around the rest of the city. The hotel is excellent, very clean...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
