We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. Although it wasn't the cheapest option it didn't feel too much like a hostel and more like a hotel, towels were provided, it was clean and tidy. Great location for exploring Amsterdam, close to the Red Light District and only a short walk from central station so the holiday started straight away....

Very nice place. Helpful staff. The bar is built in a way that doesn't make it easy to socialize - just square, separate tables - could easily be much better. I took a private room with a friend and they only gave us 1 key & expected us to drop it in the reception every time we leave the hostel...

This hotel is located just on the edge of the red light district and about a 5 minute walk away from the station. The staff are friendly and helpful, the bar is decently priced with decent bar food served the breakfasts were excellent. The room was good and suited us well as it was an 8 person room, however the...

Location is within the redlight district with lots of cafes and bars nearby. Near to Amsterdam Central Station with about 7mins walk (would feel longer if you are dragging your heavy luggage). Walk to the various tourists attraction is reasonable, about 7mins to Bodyworks, 15mins to Amsterdam Dungeon and 25mins to Heinkein Experience etc. The staff are friendly and fast...

I stayed in February for a few nights and I'm so happy that I chose to stay here! The hostel staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. I stayed in a 8-bed room and my room-mates and I became friends very quickly. Wifi works well, and you also get a discount on the food in the restaurant...

Stayed here for the second time over the Speingbreak festival in Amsterdam. First stayed just before Christmas and both times had an amazing stay. Hostel is pretty modern, staff are great and there's a fun atmosphere all the time. The hostel is attached to a restaurant which you receive 25% discount of their great burgers, wraps, toasties, nachos and salads....

Thank you very much for making an exception to your rule that you don't stay somewhere more than once, we consider that a HUGE compliment. Thanks as well for your advice for future guests to book direct as it will get them the best price guaranteed and free breakfast as well. See you next time! - St. Christopher's at The...

I was passing by Amsterdam with a friend for one night, and we decided to stay at St Christopher's Inn as we had heard very good things about the place and the price seemed very fair as well. Finding the place was very simple; less than a 10 minute walk from the central train station, though lugging a large suitcase...

This hostel can not be recommended for business trips. The price-performace ratio is not adequate. Maybe good for freshmen on their spring break. Breakfast starting only at 8. And than those pictures in my room.....These 2 are only a selection. I wouldn't say best of....

Thank you very much for your constructive feedback. Although we have had examples where businessmen accidentally booked us and ended up enjoying themselves more than at high end hotels they normally go to, we can certainly appreciate that we may not the best fit for people who are here for business. We appreciate that you gave us a try, and...

We stayed 3 nights in this hostel, from Monday till Thursday. We enjoyed our stay but always had the thought in our head about the price. First the pros: The location of the Hostel is amazing! Its really central, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, little shops and there is even a supermarket next to it. The red light district...

Thank you very much for your feedback! It's great to see that almost everything about your stay was good. We are sorry to read that you thought we were a bit pricey. Unfortunately, Amsterdam is indeed a very expensive city and our operational costs are some of the highest in Europe in relative terms. We operate properties in London, Berlin,...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
