My husband & I stayed here for two nights and it was great! We stayed in a quad room with two other people (one empty bed). My favorite part was the USB's right at the bed! Staff was friendly and breakfast was standard. Location was good, right in the middle of Red Light District! and not too far of walk...

I been here with other 5 friends and we got a 6 beds bedroom . Everything was clean overall The shower. The rooms at 6th floor has aswell a nice and tiny terrace arranged with chairs. Even The very good location (right back Damm Square) at The ground floor there is the Belushi's bar, a nice and sparkling place where...

Was a lovely place and had a really nice stay here, only our room backed out onto a main street so it was very noisy ! Ear plugs are available. The whole advertising of the place was each room was designed quirky and fun.. Our room was obviously forgotten as it was completely bare walls.. I really liked the hostel,...

Location was perfect, lots of stores, food places and bars nearby. Close enough to Centraal Station. It was perfectly clean, bathroom was pretty big and even had towel warmers (5 bed private room). Room itself was not huge but then again in Amsterdam none are. Staff is nice, friendly and accommodating. Also, and this is really important: they actually CARE...

This hostel is located right in the heart of Amsterdam. Barely a 5 minute walk from Dam square and a 10 minute walk from the central station, you couldn't really ask for more as far as the location goes. The bar usually has cheap deals on on beers and shots. Though not lavish, the breakfast is decent and you get...

Seriously amazing location, on the edge of the red light district so super accessible and not far from the main train stop from the airport. They have a bar downstairs that has amazing food and a great rock and roll atmosphere and is a huge spot for night life. It's great but for sure can get super crowded some evenings....

We really enjoyed our two nights at St Christopher's. We booked a En Suite room for two. The room was clean but basic. The shower was lovely and the water pressure was excellent. The location is superb as you are less than a minutes walk to Dam Square. There is a lovely bar on the ground floor that serves delicious...

We stayed here in October 2016 with another couple. After booking our rooms (private double ensuite) at the same time, paying the same amount and checking in at the same time we were given two completely different rooms. Our room was tiny, with little decor, curtains that didn't close, a dirty bathroom and our window being right over the bar's...

I would say you get what you pay for but this hostel is actually expensive considering the basic stay. I stayed here over the Halloween weekend for 3 nights and 4 days. We arrived late on Saturday night and there was a huge party on in the bar area (which you have to walk through to get to the reception...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
