Friendly and professional staff from the start of the Corona pandemic till the end! We visit the Catalonia Hotel since 1,5 years and we remain visiting this wonderful place. It feels like coming home!
The best economy hotel in Amsterdam very conveniently located in the Museums Quarter in quiet beautiful area near Vondel Park. All Amsterdam attractions are in walking distance from hotel. The hotel crew is always very helpful.
This hotel is located near the Vondel park, within walking distance from the Leidensplein tram stop and the also very close to the Museumplein where the Rijks, Moco, van Gogh and other museums are located. Numerous restaurants, the Food Hallen and quaint shops are also within walking distance. The rooms are modern, spacious, quiet and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we ever experienced and leaves nothing to be desired. I highly recommend this hotel for a trip to amesterdam.
GAVE A 1 BECAUSE I COULDN’T GIVE A 0! I got a hotel room there because I needed to work in Amsterdam. I am a freelance artist photographer and I my clients are really important to me, I like to be profesional. I droped all my cloths and working material in the room they gave me and I went to park my car. When I came inside to get my working equipment, the door didn’t open. I went to reception and they tried to open the door on different methods but nothing worked. I insisted I had to get my working stuff as I need to go to work. They didn’t care, only called the manager a few times and telling me to wait. They could have called the locksmith and help me to get my stuff and making me not loose my work with an important client!! I insisted on this many times but looked like NO ONE CARED!!! I keep waiting for more than 2 hours and when I called back then told me to wait 1 hour more, it was already 8:30pm and I had to be working already. They also told me that the manager couldn’t come till next morning… I decided to come to the hotel and tell them to open me the door urgent. The manager finally dicided to come as I said if not I would open the door my self… Not going to work was making me lose much money and was damaging my reputation. When the manager came he tried to open the door with a special machine they had (and already tried before) and still didn’t work. He decided to get an umbrella and break the window of outside to get it. I WANTED TO COME UPSTAIRS BUT HE INSISTED ME TO STAY DOWN IN RECEPTION. After he came back to reception. he said he opened it and he didn’t had to use the umbrella sudently… magic.. and he said to me it was my fault that I put the jacked behind the door.. I SAID NO.. I had never did that in my hole life!!!! I rember exactly that I lefted in the chair next to my bag. The manager just said good night and that he couldn’t do nothing about it, it was my fault…. They treated me really bad and never even offered me any time of compensation. NOW I HAVE LOST A GOOD CLIENT I HAD, MONEY OF THAT HOURS THAT I HAD TO WORK WITH HIM AND MY REPUTATION IS DAMAGED BECAUSE THE NEFAST WAY THEY HANDLED THE SITUATION!!! I have been in many hotels around the world because of my work (even with less stars) and I never felt worst treated. NEVER GOING AGAIN!! NOT RECOMENDING IT TO ANYONE! If you can, book another hotel please, they will definatelly treat you better than here!! Ps: another friend booked a room here and manythings were broken like the handles of the doors… this is definatelly not the way of handeling your business!…
Very nice, comfortable, clean and friendly hotel perfectly located near all the most iconic Amsterdam attractions. I only wish I had stayed longer so hopefully will be back soon and will absolutely try hotel bar and restaurant.
Had a great stay at this hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and tidy. The location is great, with most attractions in Amsterdam within a short waking distance which is perfect if you’re sightseeing. We stayed in a large double room which was very spacious with a large TV and the beds/pillows were very comfortable. The only issue was that there was not enough storage space for clothes and we therefore had to keep some in our suitcase. The value for money is excellent and if we visit Amsterdam again we will definitely be coming back here!
I really liked this hotel to start with, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately though, the noise from other rooms spoil the experience. We were woken up by noise from an upstairs room. All they were doing was walking around, but as the ceiling was so thin the noise was magnified. I think if they carpeted the rooms it would help and would eliminate some of the noise.
My stay at the Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam was an overall pleasant one. Our party was 4 total, and we split into 2 rooms of 2. I was fortunate to get a large room on the ground floor, with abundant space for our suitcases and a luxurious bathroom. However, I got lucky - the other 2 in our party were placed in a much smaller, somewhat cramped room on an upper floor. While the rooms themselves were lovely and clean, the hotel itself was undergoing some renovations during our stay, making navigating the hallways difficult. It also meant the restaurant just to the left of the lobby was closed off, and we also were not permitted to enter the garden/courtyard behind the hotel. Other than that, the hotel is in a perfect location, just steps away from lots of restaurants, bars & museums, and the breakfast was delicious and had lots of offerings. Since I'm sure the renovation issues have been resolved by now, I definitely do recommend a stay here.…
Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, the room was incredibly small, couldn’t even open my carry on luggage in the room. The interior of the room was extremely old and deteriorated, the window was not functioning properly and may fall at any point. Asked for an extra blanket, the staff gave me a quilt instead.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and the stay was exceptional. Service has been really quick and good. With reception being 24/7, receptionists were upto the help all the time whenever required. Only thing I noticed is the rooms are of different sizes and some exceptions come with it as in my case, bathtub was missing in my room with respect to my colleague's but the area of my room was bigger.I only wish if this is mentioned prior to check-in so people can opt. Breakfast was really great. I would love to stay again when I'm back in Amsterdam!
