Just returned from a 1 night stay in The Tulip Inn .Hotel in a great location to central station, dam square and red light district. Hotel was huge with decent sized rooms . The reception staff where friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean . Only one problem , we were given room 1078 and the chiming from...

At first I really liked this hotel. I was worried after reading some negative reviews from others however it's a basic and comfy hotel in a great location which is easy to find your way back to from all over the city. Similarly to some other reviews, our room also had a resident mouse who appeared around midnight on our...

We stayed at the Tulip Inn for one night in Sept. on our way east to walk along the Noaberpad. We were able to check in to our room early and we were warned that it was a ground floor room, on the street and it could be noisy. Which it was but what was irritating was the windows did...

A fairly basic room for a fairly reasonable price. Not the most attractive location either, down a side street not far from the Red Light District. That said, very close to the train station and generally very convenient for getting around, getting food etc. Our room was fine, clean and tidy enough - no sign of the dirt shown in...

This hotel was very clean, nice sized rooms and in a great location. It was a good price too! Would recommend. 5 mins walk from central station, dam square and the red lights. Staff were friendly and our room was great, overlooking one of the main drags, yet not noisey if you shut the window. Its not 5 star but...

Great place to stay for a weekend. Although a basic hotel, it was very clean, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast more than we expected. It was situated right on the doorstep to everything we wanted to see and do. Visited here with 9 other friends and we had the best time as it was easy to find the hotel after...

We were on the very end of an 8 week trip around Europe for our Honeymoon we were exhausted and after staying in some amazing hotels and some really dodge ones I just wanted this to be comfortable. We read reviews on the Tulip Inn and I almost burst into tears we then spent 2 hours looking for other accommodation,...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
