Where to start. Staff all very nice, no complaints. The room was terrible. Window wouldn’t stay open, wouldn’t close fully, hinge broken and felt unsafe when opened fully - had to wedge open. Wall and lampshade on desk all have water stains. Wall outside room all water stained. Office style suspended ceiling adds to the ambience of an interrogation suite. Bedroom floor was water damaged wood laminate which was lifting in places. Bed okay, clean sheets. Pillows were lumpy, uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Shower wouldn’t drain and flooded bathroom floor. Lamp on bathroom ceiling broken. Tap on sink too powerful for size of sink resulting in water spraying everywhere. Screw holes all over bathroom walls and tiles laid over old tiles. Toilet paper reminiscent of tracing paper. Despite overcast weather in September the room was boiling hot, no air conditioning just a fan. Far too noisy outside to have window open at night. Bedside tables broken and missing shelves. Run down, dated, shabby. Needs renovating as soon as possible. Probably okay for a stag do. Other guest complaining about room and staff as we sit here waiting for a taxi. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Here are some facts and you will understand my reaction: (1) Room hygiene is below the acceptable level. (2) The bathroom ceiling was leaking. (3) Overcharged for “breakfast”. (4) No noice policy. People living above me were playing with a ball late evening and early morning hours. It was like a banging on my head.

The room was nothing close to what it looked like on the pictures. Located on the 3rd floor, you needed to take the elevator to the 2nd, then get out and take the stairs down to the 1st, go down a dark hallway and then take the stairs to the 3rd. Room was about 10 sqm, a single bed placed in the middle with a small table on one and a stool on the other side. No closet for stuff. Both TV and WiFi were not working. The linoleum floor had obviously seen better days. The Velux window was partially open, couldn’t be closed nor entirely be opened and couldn’t be covered by the curtains. I‘ve checked out after an hour sitting and cruising the web for better accommodation as I couldn’t imagine they would have significantly better rooms to offer; besides, why put me in that sh**hole in the first place. I didn’t ask for refund as the policy says it no longer possible and didn’t want to get involved in any discussions, just wanted to leave the place. This is never a 3-star Hotel and I regret looking only at the price when booking. Now I’ve ended up paying for 2 hotel rooms for three nights. Recommendation for those traveling to Amsterdam: spend some money on your accommodation if you opt to stay in/within the city center or pick another destination if you’re out of budget.

Before anyone jumps on me ... I have travelled extensively around Europe and currently live in Paris, so this isn't my first time staying at a European hotel. Let's start with the positive, because there is a LOT of negative here. Great location! Near Vondel Park and close to several trams to get you anywhere you need to go. OK .... now to the negatives. 1: When I booked through Priceline, the hotel was supposed to take my payment in advance. It did not, and when we arrived, we were told we had to pay 5%more for paying at the hotel unless we wanted to get cash. It was 22h and we were exhausted, so we didn't have a choice but to give them the extra money. This also means I didn't get my airline miles for purchasing online, since the hotel didn't take the money when it was supposed to. 2. The hotel says it had a lift/elevator and it does ..BUT, to get to our room, my 71 year old aunt and I had to lug our cases up a flight of stairs, down a long hall, down some stairs, up more stairs, then down another set of stairs. Useless lift! 3. The room was nothing like the pictures. There were two twin beds pushed together with a mattress pad on top of a box spring type thing. Every time we moved, the pad slid around. 4. The bathroom light was being held up by masking tape! 5. The lights by the bed didn't work. 6. The transition strip was loose and caught my toe. OUCH! 7. The flooring was coming apart, mainly because the shower is just a hole in the floor and the water goes everywhere. 8. The towels had holes. We called the front desk about the lights and the woman said she would send someone. That didn't happen. After all the other stuff, we called Priceline/Booking and they got the hotel to switch our room to one on the ground floor. But even that wasn't painless. I got the email saying to go to reception when we had the chance to get our new room, and we went after a day of sightseeing. The clerk told us we would have to wait until the morning to change rooms because no one told her. After showing her the email and a lot of negotiating, she finally gave us a new room, but not after saying there was nothing wrong with the room we had and we should basically live with it.

We recently stay at this hotel for 3 night for my birthday. It’s safe to say we won’t be staying here again.. it’s like something you stay in at Blackpool for £20. The staff was very friendly but the rooms were terrible!! They gave us a room upstairs witch we complained about as it was like a crack heads den. They put us in a different room witch wasn’t much better but it had to do. The beds was very uncomfortable, we had no kettle.. the dressing table was stained with nail polishes. The T.V didn’t work and was literally hanging off the wall. The room smelt of smoke and the bathroom was disgusting!! Its look gorgeous on pictures but don’t be fooled!! It’s safe to say I’m glad to be home !!

The single rooms are exclusively for your own use. They are very small & the housekeeping standards leave a lot to be desired.Double bed was comfy & you got clean towels everyday. You have your own bathroom facilities.
