We have just returned from a weekend trip to Amsterdam, staying at the Ambassade Hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to all the attractions, and in a quieter area of town. We were greated at reception by extremely friendly and helpful staff, who were happy to help in any way they could. Our room was beautifully furnished,...

great place-highly recommended well located, easy to walk where it's interesting-to the Rijksmuseum, to the Portugese Synogogue, to the Central Station, to the "Dam Square" and the Herengracht is lovely.

It was a first visit to Amsterdam for my wife and me and we fell in love with both the city and the Ambassade Hotel! The location is wonderful, the view from our canal side room was terrific. The staff was always available and always helpful, whatever our requests or inquiries. The restaurant's food was incredible--I'll write another well deserved...

We stayed two nights in mid-April. The Ambassade's concierge staff reached out to us in advance of our stay to offer assistance with tickets, reservations, etc. They were extremely helpful and responsive. I can't really say enough about the level of service they provided. The hotel is located on the Herengracht right across from the 9 streets area of the...

We were looking for a hotel that was located close to all the major Amsterdam attractions but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a capital city. Somewhere that wouldn't be too expensive but still have that touch of elegance and superior service. A hotel with classy but comfortable and spacious bedrooms. Very helpful receptionists. A cosy little...

My wife and I only spent two nights but can not fault the hotel, especially the staff who could not have been more friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, close enough to the centre but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful - everything is within walking distance and you are beside a canal.

This was our first trip to Amsterdam. We had 5 nights here in a deluxe canal view double room. It was on the ground floor which we accessed from the pavement up a few steps, such is the configuration of the hotel consisting of several typical dutch houses. this was easier access than finding our way through internally. A great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
