Dear Turkilic, Sorry to read you did not enjoy all the services and many facilities of the Ambassade Hotel, such as our wonderful Library-bar, the decoration with original paintings of the famous Cobra-movement, the widely acclaimed Brasserie and our Float- and Massage Centre Koan Float. Being "old" is the main idea of the Ambassade Hotel, it is a dozen 17th...

My husband I recently stayed two nights at the Ambassade Hotel in Amsterdam. It was a lovely place to stay in an ideal location. The Hotel is made up of 7 buidlings along a canal so that layout of the rooms and foors is not traditional...more like a maze, which made the hotel, in my mind anyway, a little quirky....

Thank you very much for these nice words, SWL61, we are happy to read you had such a good time in Amsterdam and at the Ambassade Hotel. The hotel started in 1953 with only one house and then gradually expended over the years to it's current size of 10 formerly separated canal side buildings. This might explain the lay-out (each...

I had stayed here several years ago with my husband so I knew it was a wonderful hotel and really wanted to share it with my friends. We stayed in Room 52 with a...

We can't stop thinking about our fabulous Amsterdam trip (my first to Europe). Part of the great memories was a very good hotel that was smack in the middle of most everything we wanted to do. Room 95 (canal view) was spacious, great view, and spotlessly clean. We loved the restaurant (in fact we thought it was one of the...

What a brilliant hotel..... so comfortable, great restaurant, staff really friendly - special thanks to William, Marta and Veronica. We were in Amsterdam for a special birthday and couldn't have picked a better hotel. Really comfortable, good sized rooms - if you can stretch to it get a canal view room. Would go back in a heartbeat - how all...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Ambassade Hotel. The location in charming Amsterdam is wonderful, nestled in a lovely and walkable area of town in close proximity to many shops and restaurants. The hotel staff was friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Their dinner recommendations were spot-on. We loved the bartender in the library bar! We stayed...

Thank you very much for your nice words on Tripadvisor, Madam, although we are really sorry the beam in your suite caused some inconvenience. These carrying structures cannot be removed and of course contribute to the charm of this suite but are indeed not always too practical. Remind us for a hopefully next visit and we shall see to it...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
