2022 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
The Ambassade Hotel offers the ultimate base for you to explore the magical atmosphere of Amsterdam’s canals. Discover the charm and character of this unique boutique hotel in the heart of a wonderful city. The Ambassade Hotel is an authentic Amsterdam family-run hotel, located in fifteen 17th-century canal houses on the Herengracht canal and the Singel canal. It offers 55 stylish rooms and suites, each of them uniquely decorated in a perfect combination of classic and modern. The location is truly ideal, amidst the Amsterdam canal belt and in the intimate shopping area 'De Negen Straatjes' (Nine Streets). The Ambassade Hotel is just a stone's throw away from Dam square and all the famous museums, shopping streets, and other main attractions. Ask our staff for the ‘Ambassade city bikes and explore the surroundings as the local Amsterdammers do. On the 1st floor, you will find ‘Brasserie Ambassade’ - beautifully decorated with artworks, large chandeliers, and with magnificent views over the canal. Here you can enjoy exquisite French cuisine dishes, but with a modern twist. During your stay, discover the unique collection of over 800 CoBrA artworks that can be admired in all public areas as well as in each hotel room. Speaking of art; from 2022 guests can visit the new ‘Ambassade Art Gallery’, where various art exhibitions take place throughout the year. The hotel's ‘Library Bar’ is not only the place for a cocktail but is also a literary delight. Here you will find more than 5,000 books, each signed by famous authors who stayed at the Ambassade Hotel. At ‘Samsara Books & Art’, the hotel’s art- and bookstore around the corner, you will find books, gifts, and unique souvenirs. Ask for the unique ‘Art & Culture’ tours and packages, including a tour around the Art & Literature inside the hotel. Looking for a place to unwind? For hotel guests, special rates apply for relaxing float sessions at ‘Koan Float’, the wellness center of the Ambassade Hotel. Koan Float also offers fourteen types of professional massages. The hotel also features a private gym focusing on holistic health: the ‘Ambassade Gym’. Hotel guests can enjoy training sessions with a personal trainer, or reserve the gym for an invigorating private fitness session. Team Ambassade is looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you!

Our first time staying here - and it probably won't be our last. We loved the location, the interiors, our room, the staff, everything. The attention to detail - from the warm welcome on arrival to late evening visits to the Library bar - all made for a very relaxing, comfortable stay. While we didn't eat in the Brasserie, we've made a note to do so next time. (Winter's a good time to stay: with no leaves on the trees you get the full view across the canal - magical!) Thank you Hotel Ambassade for a memorable stay.

Hotel's Favourite
After a fabulous concert of “superheroes’ film theme music in our Royal Concerthall we had a bicycle tour in Amsterdam by night . And arrived at the Herengracht in Amsterdam , we were very warm welcomed at the hotel and they gave us a lovely room under the room with a view on the canal . With the lovely music in my ear I had a good sleep . a cool breeze , gave some smell of the green trees in front of our window , in which you good sit and dream away with spectacular view. After a good sleep we had a very nice breakfast in the Restaurant full of the art of the COBRA artist from around the world. All the servants are very warm and friendly and most guest came back again and were recognized. it tells a lot about the fine vibes of the Hotel . They have had very much famous writers and all the books first edition and signed are there to see at the bar.. We had a good informative tour of the art collection of the hotel , it’s incredible ! What a special and hidden gem of Amsterdam , and I can tell by experience that taking a Float at Koan Float the neighbors is something which make you fly in Amsterdam and on Holiday .

Absolutely gorgeous hotel very close to all the bars, restaurants and cafes. The staff here are possibly the nicest people I have come across, they could not do enough for you. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the bed and pillows were divine! We also ate here and that was fabulous. I could go on and on, but just come and stay here, you won’t be sorry!! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we’ll definitely be back

Just back from a lovely stay at the Ambassade. I was quite worried if the reviews were accurate or not - they are. This is a lovely, well-kept boutique hotel. All the rooms are unique and it is quite amazing how the hotel has achieved a sense of unity despite being in a series of row houses. The staff could not be lovelier. I asked to changed my room mid-stay because I saw a room I liked even better than my original room - and voila they moved me immediately! It was amazing. The location is central and there is a great restaurant that is part of the hotel. This is the ideal place if you visit Amsterdam!

Exceptional! This hotel is in an excellent location, close to shops and museums, but in a more quiet neighbourhood with excellent views overlooking the canal. This neighbourhood was in my favourite area of Amsterdam, and made for a great home base for exploring charming side streets and dining out, and is a short walk to the museum district. The guest rooms are both cozy and elegant and sparkling clean. The restaurant has an excellent atmosphere with a great selection of pastries and coffee and served amazing crêpes. The staff throughout the hotel and restaurant are very friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel!

This adorable hotel is perfectly located in the city center for a perfect weekend break. The front desk team was super welcoming and truly accommodating of every request for information, extra pillow, added waters. We did not try the restaurant which looked lovely as there were so many places to try in Amsterdam! I was disappointed not to have a canal view (sold out!) but hope to do so the next time. Last time in Amsterdam, we stayed at the Waldorf and I can honestly say, not only was this a better value (by far!), a better location for sightseeing but also a more relaxed environment. Improvements: I did not like the chargers provided for mobile phones as my phone didn’t charge but a few percent over the entire night leaving me without a working mobile at times. Also, the temperature is the rooms was stifling during the night and the thermostat on the wall either wasn’t individually controlled or not working. Next time we will ensure that a canal room is available and will try the Brasserie!

Dear Mauspie, Thank you very much for your positive review. How nice that the reception made you feel so welcome. How nice to read that you would like to come back, this time hopefully with a canal view room. How sad to hear that you experienced inconveniences regarding charging your phone and the temprature in your room. Thank you very much for your time and effort in writing this review. Hope to see you soon. Kind regards, Team Ambassade, Bente

Wonderful hotel with extremely helpful staff. Their restaurant recommendations ensured every meal was memorable. On their recommendation, we dined at Black and blue as well as Cannibale Royale, both of which were delightful and well recommended. The room was well appointed. We stayed with our teen who had their own sleeping area (booked triple room which was upgraded to quad room) which was a welcome respite for all involved. Location was fantastic, breakfast was impeccable. Could not fault it and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.

Really felt right at home and the staff were truly amazing and supportive as it was my first time in the Netherlands. The experience at the hotel, on its own, has led to my decision to return to Netherlands for a holiday in the Summer. The rooms were impressively clean and had great view of the Canal. Breakfast was great👌

This was my third or fourth stay in this beautiful hotel which has been created through the merging of several canal-side houses in Amsterdam. The rooms are all exquisitely decorated with coffee- and tea-making facilities, and the staff really went out of their way to welcome me and to make my stay feel special, even though I was only there for a short time. The rooms are not particularly large (my one in the roof was particularly cosy) but unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in the room, this isn't too important. The breakfast is particularly good - beautifully presented and freshly prepared local foods. And the library bar is perfect for a quiet drink at any time of the day. Highly recommended!
