I've visited Amsterdam 3 times now and two of those visits I stayed in the cordial hotel. It is an amazing hotel very central and the rooms are quite big and very modern. 5-10 min walk from red light district and 5-10 min walk to the closest coffee shop! It's placed perfectly in between Madame tusauds and the Amsterdam dungeons!...

if you don't want to get cold or sick, never stay at this hotel!!! This hotel is not clean also! Especially the staff who is working at nights was so rude! Amsterdam is very cold city in winter, this hotel's air condition devices are not opening by hotel policy! Not broken or defected, they are controlling it from reception, and...

Let's start with the good! Location.. close to all attractions, very central. Hotel feels dirty, very worn, discoloured bedding and towels. Very small room, tiny bathroom with miniscule sink, but plenty of hot water and shower was good. Hairdryer didn't work. I informed the receptionist, who apologised but couldn't help me at all. Had no spare hairdryers. Still not working...

Brilliant location! Hotel was grand for our 4day stay, road works going on across the road but it didn't bother us! We had no view at all except another wall, room was very small but would stay again for the location!

We stayed in late 2016 for 3 nights and this hotel was the best value option for us at that time. The room was a bit worn looking, but this wasn't a huge issue as we were only really using it to sleep. The location was excellent, close to all of the major attractions and a short walk to the...

It was very basic and very small, stepped out of bed into the toilet and shower - I had read this before me and my boyfriend went however we knew we wouldn't be spending much time in the room as there is so much to do. Despite this, very clean and changed our bed sheets every morning. Location was the...

I had to cancel my reservation due to a family tragedy and death. They wouldnt cancel the reservation with no fee. They told me I had to pay 300euros to cancel, even though we are only human. I never expirienced such thing.

It's ok to get your head down. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Other than that it's dirty and small. Took reception a day to open the safe so we could use it. I had to carry my passports round with me on New Year's Eve and they kept telling me that someone would be up...

Picked up this hotel, as I used to stay here on previous visits to Amsterdam. The hotel is in the city center. Walking distance from Amsterdam central station, the dam square is just around the corner, the shopping street is at the back of the hotel and most of the attractions are walking distance. Since my last visit (few years...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
