I was travelling with my wife, two small kids, and my parents. We stayed in the Ruyschen Suite, and a business class room, just next to the suite. Both the rooms were great, with nice views over the canal. The hotel is a little different.. two buildings across a small street, but both buildings are very well connected through the...

The location for us was perfect! Short walk to all the sites but far enough to not be right in the center of all the noise & chaos! This hotel is located on a lovely quieter side street. We arrived early morning and our reserved room type was not yet available for check in...but a larger upgraded room was available...

Think it really depends on how much you've paid for the room so you judge the hotel accordingly. Given the price we had - it was close to excellent. Check-in went very smooth, thanks to Dennis, who despite the 'in training' badge was really friendly and knowledgable. He was able to allocate us to a king bed room, despite that...

Hotel is in an excellent position for those Peoble who would like to be in the heart of Amsterdam. The hotel is in Rusland str, which is in the city CENTER but there is no noice. You are approximately 300 to 400 meters away from Dam square. The hotel has good service and very nice breakfast.

very comfortable hotel in the centre of the old town. Nice rooms with marble bathroom and good breakfast. I was on a business trip and the room had good working area with a very easy connection to the internet.

We arrived at 6:30 am after flying from the U.S. Hadn't really given much thought as to what we would do since our reservation wasn't until that evening. The hotel was fully booked so they couldn't give us our room. They were helpful in getting a room cleaned ASAP and getting us in by 10 am. Super staff!!! Our room...

Before our cruise, we stayed 3 nights (August 21 to 24, 2014) at this very well maintained and clean hotel. It was located in the historical center in a calm street. We only walk 10-15 minutes to reach the interesting sites. We arrived early morning from the airport and we had to wait two hours and a half since our...

Perfectly located, but still away from the partyanimals. Genuin rooms with atmosphere, but still all you need if the focus is business. Gentle and observant staff always taking care of me. This is my first choice when going to Amsterdam

No surprises here. An as described hotel, with courteous staff, slightly dated but clean rooms, and a great restaurant. Right in the middle of the Old City and a short walk to many attractions. I would stay again.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
