Originally, we were looking for an exceptional place, which was unfortunately fully booked. Radison Blu came as a 2nd choice alternative, actually selected a little haphazardly, without a lot of time to make a choice. While, for our purpose it was lacking the "exceptional" touch we were looking for, we've been delighted with this "forced" opportunity, which offered a very...

Hotel located in central location. Business rooms are updated, clean and provide all the services needed. Friendly staff at check in. Cleaning staff seems to very proud of their hotel and you can notice it.

Greeted by friendly, efficient front desk associate, Marjoe. She got us checked in and sold us discounted Super Breakfast plan for our stay. Breakfast is extensive buffet and well worth the discount price of 17 Euro per person. The lobby is very modern, attractive, and accommodating. Our room was adequately sized, and very nicely decorated. It was close to 2...

My second visit to the Radisson Blu and it was as good as I remembered. The hotel itself is in a great location and you can walk to any of the main areas inside 15 minutes, but far enough away to be able to escape the crowds, avoid the mayhem and get a great nights sleep. The beds were extremely...

Radisson Blu was selected after a great deal of research. It was the perfect hotel. We were 13 staying in AMS prior to a Rhine river cruise. First the staff was friendly, helpful, attentive and did anything we wanted with smiles on their faces. What a pleasure after a long flight from the US. They did everything from storing our...

I was travelling with my wife, two small kids, and my parents. We stayed in the Ruyschen Suite, and a business class room, just next to the suite. Both the rooms were great, with nice views over the canal. The hotel is a little different.. two buildings across a small street, but both buildings are very well connected through the...

The location for us was perfect! Short walk to all the sites but far enough to not be right in the center of all the noise & chaos! This hotel is located on a lovely quieter side street. We arrived early morning and our reserved room type was not yet available for check in...but a larger upgraded room was available...

Think it really depends on how much you've paid for the room so you judge the hotel accordingly. Given the price we had - it was close to excellent. Check-in went very smooth, thanks to Dennis, who despite the 'in training' badge was really friendly and knowledgable. He was able to allocate us to a king bed room, despite that...

Hotel is in an excellent position for those Peoble who would like to be in the heart of Amsterdam. The hotel is in Rusland str, which is in the city CENTER but there is no noice. You are approximately 300 to 400 meters away from Dam square. The hotel has good service and very nice breakfast.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
