While the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam boasts a prime location in central Amsterdam, some guests have raised concerns about noise, particularly in lower floor or street-facing rooms. Although service generally receives high marks for attentiveness and professionalism, a few visitors have reported instances of slow responses. The hotel's sophisticated atmosphere and immaculate cleanliness are consistently praised, as are the luxurious amenities it offers. However, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many travelers who cite overpriced services and unexpected charges.

Stayed here for 3 nights 21st Feb-24th Feb and so happy we chose to pay more for this hotel over any other hotel we were looking at. It was our first time in Amsterdam so we were nervous not knowing If we had picked a good location ect. The hotel is in dam square which is central to most things because of this we would often pop back to the room just for ease. Red light district is about a 5 minute walk, most main attractions are within a 15 minute walk. The hotel itself is beautiful we were upgraded to a premium room free of charge and our room was decorated with heart balloons and rose petals as were celebrating our anniversary which was a lovely touch! The room itself had a massive bed I would like to say queen size a shower and a bath and a double sink it was lovely so clean and housekeeping tidied our room to a high standard every day! We also had white company pillow spray and mini stroopwaffels on our bed every evening. There is a mini bar in the room but this is at a cost not complimentary. We were not interrupted by any outside noise when we stayed given the location but we were next to what I believed was the cleaning cupboard would often hear the door banging but wasnt a major problem. The service is which quality and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I would 100% reccomend staying here over any other hotel and it met all expectations and above so thank you. Only watch out is city tax we didnt realise how much this was in Amsterdam only paying it in Spain its 3 euro per person per night and 7% of each night stay cost which for us was 56 euros.

Dear Madam. Hannah, Thank you for such a wonderful review! It is genuinely enriching to receive such positive feedback. We are delighted to hear you appreciate our efforts! We are very happy we could help to make your anniversary even more special. But we are very sorry to hear about the city taxes, but regrettably this is a rule from the dutch government, and unfortunately we can not change this. We have shared your experience with our colleagues; as such great appreciation is a fabulous reward for their continued and consistent efforts. On behalf of all the members of staff of NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, we would be honored to welcome you back again soon! With kindest regards, Arne Heuwekemeijer – Hotel Director

The hotel, as you would expect from a 5 star NH Collection Hotel, was fabulous. About one month before coming to the hotel, however, I had a fall and broke my ankle. When I visited the hotel, therefore, I had to use a pushed wheelchair for long distances and crutches for short distances. This review, therefore, is centred around my experiences in this tempory state at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky.

We had arranged with a third party company to deliver a rented wheelchair to the hotel, and sure enough, the concierge knew about it and had it available for our arrival.
Mostly, the public areas that we wanted to use were on the ground floor and, where there were steps, there was always an option to use another on-the-level door or a ramp. The Tailor's bar had steps to it which I could manage with crutches, but anytime I passed when being pushed in the wheelchair, staff from the bar offered to open another door for me, which was accessible.

The building is an old building, and there are several steps to the front door. There were two ramps on either side of the steps, but to the person pushing me in the wheelchair, they seemed pretty steep. To be fair to the hotel, we always managed the ramp, so I can't comment if this was the only option to get in as we didn't ask about that.

We had telephoned the hotel to explain the crutches/wheelchair situation and they ensured our allocated room had a walk-in shower rather than a shower over a bath.

Overall the staff were very accommodating of my situation and, seemed genuinely concerned for me.

At times while my partner was at the breakfast buffet, it may have appeared that I was sitting at the breakfast table myself. On several occasions, the staff spotted this and came up to offer assistance to me. At the time, it wasn't necessary, but lovely that they made the offer.

Overall our visit, although not as we expected given the wheelchair/crutches situation, was fantastic. The staff were very helpful when needed to and they make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

We have stayed at this hotel regularly every year for the last eight years and then spasmodically over the previous 10 years and I have defended it to all who ctiticised, however the time has come for the divorce...Booked last November for a very popular week in February I committed almost 2000 euro to one room for four nights. I was very specific about the room having had it for at least the previous five years. Whilst not specified by room number my description was very specific- Dam Square view and a bathtub. I reinforced my booking by several emails to my contact in reservations, the last of which was 5 days before arrival. I had learnt that this much follow up was necessary as at least on three occasions only part of the specification was fulfilled I.e. no bathtub. I explained in my latest email that I was recovering from a broken leg (a riding accident) and couldn’t stand in a shower. On every occasion I get extremely stressed at check-in as I know it will be a battle to get the room I have requested. The reception staff’s attitude is not “what can we do for you” but literally what can they get away with. This time, extremely grudgingly, when I produced the email, we were given a rather dull junior suite with an oblique Dam Square view but including the all important bathtub.
More questionable attitude was to follow. Querying the temperature of the room with the heating turned up I was offered an additional duvet. When we returned to our room it had disappeared so I re-requested it. Housekeeping appeared and rather than making up the bed, just deposited this on the end of the bed. The bar, by contrast is well staffed and lovely. Unfortunately breakfast has moved out of the picturesque Winter Gardens into a first floor room and the cafe, off the foyer served a very lacklustre lunch.
Quite frankly, whilst the Krasnapolsky has always had the best location in Amsterdam the general attitude would never cut it in the competitive five star market in any other city. Very reluctantly it is time for us to move on and stay elsewhere.

Dear sir / madam, First, I would like to thank you very much for your recent stay at NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky and for sharing your experience with us on this website. The team and I feel very sorry to read that your latest experience was not up to your satisfaction and that we have not been able to create the extraordinary feeling that we aim to reach. With regards to your comments about the room, we apologize for not meeting your expectations. However, we would like to kindly point out that you were upgraded complimentary to a Suite with Dam View instead of the Premium XL Dam View that you booked. Kindly note as well that not all our rooms are equipped with a bathtub and that we did our utmost best to reach your request regarding bathtub which let to us meeting this request. Our breakfast was indeed moved to one of our other dining halls due to a private event in our Wintergarden. Nevertheless, we would like to offer you our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced and we truly hope that you would like to give us a second chance when your travels brings you back to Amsterdam. This was our first visit both to Amsterdam and to this hotel. Reservations were easy on line, and the rates were very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. Our original plan was a 3 night stay, and on to Paris, but with the transport issues there we stayed for 6 nites.
The hotel is beautiful, the breakfast buffet as good as any I have ever had. Not much of anything you can think of that wasn't there, and was included in the rate we selected. We had a couple of minor glitches with our initial room, but Beatrice quickly came to the rescue, gave us an upgraded room and made sure things were taken care of. She was great. The concierge staff was extremely helpful in knowing where to go and getting restaurant reservations.
Can't say enough good things about the staff, including Yasin in the buffet area, who was incredibly attentive and should be a manager soon.
The hotel location is great, very central to everything.

From the very beginning NH Grand Hotel went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. The staff was very pleasant and when we they found out it was mine and my wife’s anniversary they sent us cookies and balloons to our room and a little special desert during breakfast. The part of the trip that stood out the most was the breakfast. The food is extraordinary and the kitchen staff feel like one big family. Chef Ramsey is a master of his craft and cooked my eggs every morning to perfection. His cooking is top notch and he truly cares about his guest enjoying the food he prepares. Yasmin is another staff member that always made sure I was comfortable and consistently check on me to see if I needed anything. When he found I liked hash browns he made sure to bring me some everyday even though this isn’t a regular buffet item. When he saw me across the room with no coffee cup lid he came to the rescue immediately to get me a lid and ask if I need anything else. I also want to give a big thanks to kitchen staff members Greg, Rob, Edna, Jocelyn, Rosanna, Hazel, Marilen, Aida, Mauren & Beatriz. Each staff member gave excellent service and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Don’t miss out on booking this hotel you won’t be disappointed!

Stayed 2 nights for a special occasion.
The check-in by Soulaiman was excellent, he made us feel very welcome and special. We were escorted to our room by Margerithe, who explained all the features of the room. Very nice touch !.
The room was beatuful with a huge bathroom, with bath and walk-in shower.
Breakfast in the beautiful Winter Garden was the most abundant I have seen, even had bubbly.
We also had room service one evening and it was very reasonably priced and the food was at good temperature and very tasty.
Check-out by Tommy was also very friendly, fast and efficient.
Kudo's to the staff at this hotel !
Location of the hotel is very convenient, smack in the middle of the centre.
Trams 4 and 14 from A'dam CS (area A in the square in front of the station) are the nearest to the hotel (1 minute walk). We had 2 large suitcases and no issues. Going back to A'dam CS need to walk a bit (5 min) towards the station to catch the 4 or 14 tram back to the station.

The Krasnapolsky is a historical hotel well worth its five stars. Service was friendly throughout, and all members of staff spoke impeccable English. The concierge was happy to recommend restaurants and assist with reservations. The only small minus was that they keep the front door locked, so whenever the doorman isn’t standing by the door, you need to ring the bell.

I was upgraded to a premium room, which was fresh, modern and clean. It was of average size for a five-star in Europe, not exactly huge as in Asia, but quite alright. There was a small fridge in the room, as well as a safe, a desk and a comfortable chair. The amenities included slippers, bathrobes, a coffee/tea pot and a bottle of water. More complimentary bottles of water were available in the lobby. Wifi was free, unlimited, fast and reliable. The bed was large and comfortable. Turndown service was available in the evenings.

The bathroom was large and came with a deep bathtub, a separate shower and two sinks. Water pressure varied a lot, usually it was okay but on some occasions, mostly at night, for some reason it was very poor. Bathroom amenities only included the usual bath items, no dental kit, shaving kit etc. Perhaps those would have been available from reception?

There was no umbrella in the room, but the doorman was happy to provide me with one when needed.

The breakfast buffet was closed, however they did serve breakfast in the mornings as table service. I did not try it, though. I did have lunch at the Grand Café in the lobby, with views of Dam Square. And dinner & cocktails at the new Aloha bar in the courtyard. The service & food at both establishments was good and prices reasonable.

The location couldn’t be better. It’s a ten minute walk from the central railway station, right in the heart of the city, opposite the Royal Palace. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby.

I was happy with my stay and will definitely stay here the next time I visit Amsterdam.

We stayed in February 2020 for 3 nights. Had been planning a special trip for a family members big birthday and this hotel did not disappoint.

The hotel is right on Dam Square and a short walking distance from De Wallen, Centraal Station, and multiple bus and tram stops.

Upon arrival we were immediately struck by how nice the hotel was. In reception there are well groomed staff everywhere who are eager to assist and speak impeccable English. We checked in and were shown to our rooms by Daphne, who made sure we were happy with everything. The king size bed was very comfortable and the Nespresso coffee machine was well used!! As was the Bose speaker.

Prior to our visit I had contacted the hotel and requested rooms next to each other as there was 5 of us travelling - to which they obliged - and even decorated one of the rooms for a birthday!

We also opted to have breakfast at the hotel. Which is served in the stunning Winter Garden room. A well stocked buffet and a chef on hand to do fresh eggs, omelettes etc.

The hotel also has a restaurant, a Michelin star restaurant, and a bar.

We ate in the restaurant on two occasions and whilst there was some issue with the food, the overall quality was excellent and staff resolved all issue effectively. Frans made the whole experience a joy and kept us entertained and well looked after.

The bar was lovely and chilled, and well decorated. Bar staff made exceptional cocktails, and there is a well stocked humidor too.

Would stay again here in a heartbeat. It was simply outstanding and would highly recommend. NH Hotels, thanks for an amazing experience!

Having stayed in Amsterdam before, looking at prices we decided to go all out and get a 5 star hotel in a central location, honestly it was absolutely amazing, the staff, the rooms, everything. On arrival the desk manager Jessie allowed us to check in 3 hours early and once he realised it was both our birthdays he upgraded us to a suite......omg! Thanks jessie you literally made our holiday amazing!!! Breakfast was amazing and buffet style so kept me full until tea time and I seriously can eat, go for the breakfast it will save you a fourtune on Amsterdam food prices. Will definitely return here on the next visit. Wow just wow

Hi - are pets allowed if traveling from abroad? My dog has all vaccinations and shots.

Hi Paul You can Go in with pet . No more than 25 kilos. 50 € a day rate. But they have a small capacity of receiving pats. You have to contact the hotel for checking if there’s a possibility to bring pats at the date you like to book. Max. 2 pats per room allowed.

Do you have access to the spa included within your stay & assume you just pay extra for any treatments?

Hi! When we were there, we received a credit. I believe you normally do not pay if you book a spa treatment, but you pay if you do not. I would advise to check with the hotel directly, in this case.
