Recently had a 4 night stay. It was a bargain for 30 per person per night and exactly what we needed. The staff were all lovely and spoke great English as most people did in Amsterdam. The rooms were pretty big compared to what previous reviews on trip advisor said. More than enough space. The bed were really comfortable and...

First the bad stuff, rooms are small, and the breakfast is not great. However, staff are helpful, the bed is comfy, its clean and there is free wifi. I would not want to stay here for a long time however for a one or two night stay it is fine. There is a tram right outside for getting in and...

We were welcomed by a really nice receptionist who was very well acquainted with the city. However, the other staff members did not know as much, which caused us to waste some time; nothing crucial though. Other than that, the place was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, breakfast pretty complete. It is well located; it is possible to walk...

My girlfriend and I recently had a 3 night stay. All of the staff we very polite and polite. The room was very nice and was more than big enough. The en suite bathroom was small, but had everything you need and the shower was nice. It is easy to tram (trams approximately every 10 minutes) to Central Station or...

Stayed here for 4 night in August, overall had an enjoyable stay. Size of the rooms were fine, mostly clean although desk and fan a bit dusty - I think more attention needs to be paid on the cleaning front. Couldn't believe how small the bathroom was!! It felt like a cabin bathroom, literally only room to shower etc. Bathroom...

I have stayed here several times. The rooms are very small but clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in the old Jewish quarter of Amsterdam and the Holocaust Museum is right a round the corner. The zoo is right up the street. There are several cafes and numerous restaurants close by. There is a bakery just next door that...

Arrived on the 31st for my boyfriends birthday. Spent the day going around the museums and went to check in at around 5pm. We stayed at the Lancaster for 4 nights last week and found it to suit all our needs. It was a little noisy at night with the trams going past, but the room was equipped with a...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
