Perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. Right on the corner of the main boulevard and walking distance from most anything and everything within the city. Very few cars around, but more than enough bikes to pay close attention to. Rooms with canal views are lovely and be sure to request one. In particular, Room 503 is exceptional with a small balcony that allows for some terrific photo opportunities. We enjoyed our stay here and would book this hotel again in the future.

We booked this hotel at the recommendation of a friend. There appears to be a wide verity of rooms, some bigger than others. We choose the deluxe room with a canal view. The hotel is made up of 2 attached buildings. The old warehouse is super cute with exposed beams, but no lift. We were ok with that, but it might not work for everyone. The front desk staff was very helpful. The staff at the breakfast restaurant were especially helpful. The young lady that brought us our coffee learned what we wanted by the 2nd day. This hotel does not have a lot of amenities, but the location is great. If you are going to stay in Amsterdam, you should stay in the canal area. Everything is within walking distance.

Checked in and they didn’t have our type of room available. We were out in a room with a view of an old building. The air conditioning is broken even after 3 days. No one came to clean our room after the second night. Bed uncomfortable and bathroom is down a hallway in the room. Was told we had a big room due to bathroom being down the way. Floor stained and very dirty.

Dear Sir / Madam, It is with my sincerest apologies that we did not meet all of your expectations. We would like to apologize for not having achieved the level of quality in service that we strive for. It is indeed unacceptable that you did not receive a stayover cleaning in your room, we apologize for that and have shared your feedback with the housekeeping. As for the lay out of your room, the toilet and bathroom are inside your room. As you have a big room, the bathroom is indeed a little bit further from your bed. Rest assured that we highly value our guests and that your feedback is analysed and taken into consideration. It is our hope that you give us the opportunity to serve you better in the near future. Kind regards, Félice – Front office Supervisor Dikker & Thijs Hotel Amsterdam

I had been to Amsterdam previously and always wanted to stay at a hotel with a canal view. Well, that view was the best part of the hotel (until celebrating football fans kept me up my second night). Not much of a lobby. Folks at the front desk were professional but not the friendliest. My room was large and clean though nothing special other than the view.

A hotel with a venerable tradition, a building with roots in the early twentieth century, and wonderfully modern amenities. One of a kind, overlooking the ravishing Prinsengracht canal. A short walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh -- great cafes and restaurants all around (try Black across the canal)!

This hotel is in a brilliant location, close to everything, particularly public transport. Our room was spacious, well appointed, had opening windows and a lovely view of the street and canal. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bathroom was nice but the water pressure in the shower was hopeless, one of the taps fell off while the shower was in use and the towels were tiny, thin and threadbare. Weird to get everything so right but then for a guest not to be able to have a reasonable shower.

This is a great hotel in a great location. The room was very nice and the service was excellent. The hotel's restaurant is open every morning for breakfast. We splurged and stayed in the Penthouse Suite, which offers spectacular views of the city (see photo). The cost was about 100 euros more that their least expensive room, but it was worth it. Dikker and Thijs Hotel would be our first choice on our next visit to Amsterdam.

We have stayed at Dikker & Thijs a number of times, and this time was the best. Room overlooked Prinsengracht, and the view was wonderful, with trees just getting their green leaves. Had breakfast one day, and it was very good. Staff at reception all very friendly and helpful.
