Very friendly staff the hotel is absolutely stunning ,The rooms are fully equipped with robes and slippers and they went the extra mile to leave us anniversary chocolates to start our weekend away. The hotel is spotless and offers complimentary hot drinks in the communal area,The hotel is in a great location and very close to lots of bars and restaurants we will defiantly return.

Wow. This beautiful place has it all. We spent three nights here on our way to Africa. Our first time in The Netherlands and with only a short time we needed location to be good. It was perfect! You are walking distance to everything you need. Anne Frank, the Rijksmuseum all the shopping, canals, restaurants in every price range, everything in easy walking distance. The hotel itself is spectacular, I could have sat there all day and treated my eyes to incredible beauty. We were told by the staff that every year the owner takes on a project, changing up decor, updating this, improving that and it shows. This hotel exudes the charm of a well loved building. Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Our room, I believe a “classic” with a canal view was huge, well appointed, super comfy. The staff were cheerful, friendly and always available. Would say so if there was anything that needed improving…..there just wasn’t. If you are looking for a hotel for a few days layover ( or longer) in Amsterdam that puts you in the heart of the city you should check this one out, it won’t disappoint. Started our adventure in fine style!

Disappointing experience at Hotel Estheria in Amsterdam. During my recent stay at the hotel, I encountered some concerning issues that I feel compelled to share. One particular incident that stood out was the unfriendly behavior displayed by the staff in the lobby area. My companions and I were enjoying a game of table games in the library section, which was a bit chilly. In an attempt to make ourselves more comfortable, we decided to close the door. However, we were taken aback when the staff members intervened not once, but twice, to reopen the door without providing any explanation. This left us feeling confused and uncomfortable. Additionally, the attitude of the breakfast hostess towards guests was disappointing. We observed her rudely insisting that guests vacate their tables precisely after 45 minutes, which made for a rushed and unpleasant dining experience. This lack of hospitality and flexibility was truly disheartening and not in line with the welcoming atmosphere one expects from a hotel. In conclusion, the incidents of unfriendliness and unprofessional behavior exhibited by the staff members at Hotel Estheria greatly impacted our overall impression of the establishment. I hope that management takes note of these issues and implements necessary improvements to ensure that all guests are treated with respect and courtesy during their stay.

Stayed for 4 nights for our 30th anniversary in Feb. 2024 and…what a disappointment!!! The room we stayed in (deluxe with a jacuzzi/#302) smelled of smoke. Bed linens, carpet, air in the room, towels - everything smelled. The odor was so bad, we both couldn’t rid of headaches and were unable to rest in the room. Despite the fact rooms have “no smoking” signs, guests have clearly been smoking on the premises and the hotel stinks. Breakfast was good but the service was appalling: no morning greeting, only “do you have a reservation?” No smile, no warm welcome, unfriendly at the minimum. You are limited in how much time you can take for breakfast and they literally police you. No one comes to pick up dirty dishes until you self-carry them to the kitchen yourself as you run out of table space. We ate 3x - same treatment every day. There were a few “nice touches” during the stay, but a very expensive and disappointing experience overall. Will not recommend.

We stayed here for two nights after Christmas 2023. The hotel is in a charming building in the old part of Amsterdam, on a canal. The hotel’s decor is fun and cheerful, with a lot of color and lights and plants. We were a family of 4, including two teenagers, and we had two rooms close to each other. Our flight got in at around 8 am and the hotel worked to get us checked-in by around mid-day, which was great. The rooms were big and the beds were comfortable. Our bathroom had a heated floor, which I loved given how cold it was outside! I also liked the lobby area, which had multiple rooms with cushy chairs, a coffee machine (and often pastries and other treats) and a bunch of candy jars. There were two fluffy house cats who come in and out too. I especially appreciated the comfortable lobby when I woke up early due to jet lag, and was able to sit and read my book with a cup of coffee at 5 in the morning. The only downsides were that the carpets in the rooms were soft but worn and stained, the elevator smelled, the rooms had some noise at times from people walking around above, and the breakfast was just okay (not great). I would stay here again though, and our kids loved it.

Stayed here for 3 nts in February. From check-in to check-out it was faultless. The staff are all welcoming, efficient and friendly. The hotel is luxuriously furnished, with gorgeous patterned fabrics, rich mahogany furniture and lovely little touches - fresh dispensers of flavoured waters, candy jars, cookies and pastries, coffee and teas all available in the lobby to help yourself at any time. Look out for the 2 gorgeous hotel cats! The rooms, like the rest of the hotel are exquisitely decorated - no two rooms are the same - some have front canal views too. They are well- appointed - ours had seating area, safe, mini fridge, separate toilet, jacuzzi bath and large walk in shower. Also cute bottled water and more candy jars! Big bottles of toiletries by L’Occitane. The breakfast selection is excellent - freshly cooked eggs, bacon, sausages as well as Dutch cheeses, cold meats, breads, waffles, pastries, fresh fruits, yoghourts etc. Oh and pour yourself prosecco - with freshly squeezed orange juice - lovely! This area turns into a bar area in the evening. Quite simply we had a stunning stay. Great central location too - easy to walk to most sights or quick hop on a tram

My self and two friends visited 4 nights. Breakfast was good plenty to choose from. The hotel had free coffee and cakes and you could really enjoy having some down time in the foyer / bar area. Bar staff were so helpful and friendly, Hotel was all round an amazing experience. Hotel staff are kind and lovely and go out of their way to help you. Hotel is absolutely beautiful. The place was spotless. They have an adorable cat that walks around and you can see all the guest smiling. Room was lovely comfortable and just perfect. Hotel is close to Dam Square. Central to a lot of the sight seeing. I couldn’t fault my time in Amsterdam the people, the food, city and the hotel just amazing. Thank you very much for our stay! I would love to stay again!

They charged extra Council Tax, even though I purchased a tax inclusive stay. I realised it after they deducted this money from my deposit, which was another surprise. You have to pay €140 deposit with no reason. I thought there is no reason but then understood that it was to deduct some money to make extra. A perfect idea!
