Discover The Dylan, Amsterdam’s best kept secret. An independent luxury boutique hotel and member of The Leading Hotels of The World. Located in a historical building, once the first theater of Amsterdam where the painter Rembrandt worked as a production assistant. Situated on the prestigious Keizersgracht canal in the heart of the trendy 9-streets shopping area. Every room is refined and distinctly unique, just like the hotel’s guests. Rooms are available in four different styles and combine historical features with contemporary design. The Dylan is known for its excellent culinary offerings. Michelin Star awarded Restaurant Vinkeles offers guests a culinary experience best described as “exciting, modest and refined”. Informal Bar Brasserie OCCO is famous for its “High Wine”, a fun take on High Tea. The secluded garden, with quintessential Dutch architecture, is a true hidden gem in the center of Amsterdam. Explore the city from the water with the hotel’s private salon boat. All principal museums are walking distance from the hotel.

What I liked: All staff members were uniformly exceptional. I don’t think I’ve encountered such outstanding service from every staff member I met – reception, food & beverage, concierge. The breakfast buffet & dinner in the Bar Brasserie OCCO were outstanding. Very high quality food & service. The location is great. What I wish had been different I am sympathetic to the challenge of converting an old building into a luxury hotel. I didn’t do my homework on my room & discovered too late that the bathroom was up a steep stairs from the bedroom & it was not possible to have a mirror over the bathroom sink. Fortunately, I navigated the stairs successfully, but I came downstairs every morning with shaving cream still on my face. I would enjoy staying here again, but only if I could get a room with a traditional bathroom on the same floor as the bedroom. I will check more carefully next time.

Hotel's Favourite
I cannot rate The Dylan highly enough. From the moment we arrived we experienced exceptional service. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making our entire stay comfortable and easy. We had requested a quiet room with a shower, and enjoyed exactly that. Beautiful large windows overlooking the courtyard and a very nice bathroom with heated tile floors made our recovery from jet lag very pleasant. The staff can help with activities, dinner reservations, transportation and more. The restaurant and bar/lounge is a great place to take a break from the bustling city and enjoy an exceptional cocktail or coffee. I am a tea drinker and the looseleaf tea service was maybe my favorite thing about our stay. If you are looking for a comfortable base for exploring the city, in a great neighborhood, and with first class service, the Dylan is for you!

A Leading Hotels of the World property discreetly located on the prestigious Keizersgracht Canal in the scenic 9 Streets neighborhood, the Dylan is centrally located for easy access to Amsterdam’s high end shopping, and top tourist attractions (Anne Frank’s house, Dam Square, museums, etc.). The luxury boutique hotel is housed in a classicsl-fronted historic building with 40 uniquely furnished commodious modern accommodations, further equipped with a full spa and fitness center, business/banquet facility and courteously attentive 24-hour front desk and concierge support. Happily smoke- and pet-free, it offers free Wi-Fi throughout and dry cleaning, laundry and parking service is available. Excellent all day casual dining and bar service is offered at the handsome Bar Brasserie OCCO and their formal restaurant Vinkeles is Michelin star lauded. An inner courtyard provides a relaxing seated setting. Above all, the entire establishment staff is extremely attuned to guests’ needs and comfort, all with a welcoming friendliness and pleasant smiles. A lovely place to stay indeed.

Honestly, I am trying to be as generous as possible. I was looking forward to my stay but at every moment there were challenges. In advance I had requested a quiet room away from the elevators as I am a light sleeper. They confirmed before my arrival they could accommodate this request. When I checked in, my room was opposite the elevator. I did not sleep with all the traffic. Then little things— like the service from staff (getting laundry done or ordering a cab took 10 minutes because they had already ordered three??) etc— just did not live up to the SLH brand. I have stayed at many SLH around the world. The Dylan does not live up to its reputation. A disappointing stay overall.

The Dylan provided exceptional service from arrival through departure. Our guest room was beautiful and well appointed. The location was perfect with boutique shopping and quaint dining all around. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed The Dylan’s gorgeous lounge for cocktails and cafe for a bountiful breakfast each morning. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. We felt at home during our first visit to Amsterdam! Thank you for a memorable experience.

The Dylan is now my favourite European city hotel. Exemplary service, comfort and food. Perfect location for visiting restaurants, shops and sights. The best hotel breakfast too with everything beautifully presented and super fresh. We couldn’t fault a single thing!

Beautiful, small hotel with excellent service. I booked a very last minute trip to Amsterdam after my daughter’s wedding and wanted something centrally located, where I could walk to nearly everything. The Dylan was perfect for me and the staff made me feel so welcome and right at home. I was very sad to leave and would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Amsterdam.

The Dylan outperformed on every parameter. I will definitely return. PROS • Room, lobby and views were beautiful. Rainfall shower was excellent. Amenities by Aesop were high-end. Bed & bedding very comfortable. Lots of outlets for electronics. • Excellent (!) wifi. • Newspapers. For this long-time reader of old-fashioned newspapers, the daily International New York Times on the bar or in the lobby was a blessing. • Service was all-around excellent. Staff greeted me by name, asked politely and sincerely if there was anything I needed, made sure to ask if my meals and my stay had been satisfactory and offered me refreshments, an umbrella and help with my luggage. They treated not only me but also my guest with care and attention. Always smiles, always warmth. • OCCO restaurant was a winner. I did not get the chance to try Vinkeles, which I have heard is over the top amazing. But OCCO was outstanding too. Excellent food (breakfast and dinner); incredible wine list (no doubt shared with Vinkeles – good deal for the OCCO diner!); beautiful setting; impeccable and personal service. Each waiter assigned to my dinner table knew what I had ordered and the second waiter offered an excellent and affordable red wine by the glass to accompany my main course. Very welcome! CONS The only cons, if you want to call them that, I can think of are these: • Room is small for the money. Yes, it was luxurious. But for $600 a night plus the newly increased 12.5% city tax, it was not very spacious – just barely room for bed, desk, chair, second chair, table & minibar. Very tight quarters. But sufficient. • Value for money. I guess Amsterdam is just very expensive. But I’ve stayed in other hotels in the historic central district for less. It’s a matter of personal choice. I will definitely try to stay here again!
