Prices are up , and so is everywhere else but standards remain high and many of the rooms have been up graded following our last visit four years ago. We were met by the General Manger and I noticed she mad great effort to chat to guests even at breakfast. She was extremely helpful as were all the staff despite some obvious shortages. My suite was very comfortable with a new bathroom - stand alone bath was really good. Breakfast is superb and gluten free no problem. We will be back in two years

Very nice hotel in the center of the city . Very good restaurants and room service . the staff is very warm. all places of interest are located within walking distance of r the hotel. the spa is a plus. the rooms are very beautiful and very modern. Maybe the best hotel in Amsterdam.

We love this hotel. The attentiveness began when we landed at Schiphol, and the hotel driver texted me that he saw the flight landed and he'd be waiting at a specific place for us. The check-in process was smooth, and the clerk explained all the necessary amenities and basic layout of the hotel. Housekeeping was amazing and stealthy. We never saw a housekeeping cart in the hallway even though our room was serviced twice a day. The evening turndown service even emptied the trash can and replaced our used tea cups, when most other hotels would simply turn down the sheets only. Every staff we saw greeted us with a smile, but instead of perfunctory courtesies, they also show their personalities. The various doormen were humorous, so much so that we looked forward to seeing them every day. One day my wife was admiring the flowers arrangement in the lobby, and one of the staff came over and chatted with her about them. The staff at the restaurant was equally friendly but also efficient. Breakfast includes made-to-order hot dishes as well as a buffet of pastries, fruits, and cold cuts. The dutch pancake is a must try. The hotel is centrally located just north of University of Amsterdam, on a quiet street. The entrance is inside a secured courtyard. You can't tell from being on hotel grounds that a busy street filled with tourists is only a block away. Many sites and restaurants are 15-20 min walk away at most, and if need be, the subway station (Metro Rokin) is only a 5-min walk. We loved the fact that we can drop off purchases and get back out sightseeing without making a long detour. My wife thought she left something in the room after we checked out and she called the front desk, who sent someone to look in our room and called her back within 5 minutes. It ended up she simply misplaced the item in her luggage. But the level of service is just above-and-beyond. We felt so welcome and relaxed here.

I really loved this hotel. It's in a great location, close to lots of tourist attractions, shops, and cafes. The hotel itself is charming and elegant, in a historic building with a little garden. Staff were attentive and went out of their way to be helpful. My room was clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the canal. The Hermes bath products were fabulous. The food was amazing; I particularly enjoyed the quality of the room service meals. The gym is small but it was literally empty when I went, so it was fine for me.

We had an incredible stay in Amsterdam at the Sofitel Grand! The food was excellent, the room was extremely clean and spacious, but the best part was the service. Domingo was our butler, and he helped us when we were panicking--we left something at home for a medical device that we needed, and like MacGyver he jumped into the rescue with some makeshift solutions the hotel had laying around. On our first night, he ended up helping us through some panic which also ended up helping us out on our entire trip throughout Europe. Obviously, this was a unique and unexpected case, but we were so impressed by Domingo's service. Niels was also an absolute gentleman, helping us plan a wonderful day at the Keukenhof complete with a private driver on very little notice. Niels was great to work with, and had an excellent sense of humor. Thank you so much for an incredible stay!

I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this hotel is. From the moment we arrived and until we left, we were treated as royalty! I am a hotelier and well-travelled myself, and I would certainly rate Sofitel Legend The Grand as one of the very best hotels in the world. The property is unique, historic and magnificent (the marble in the lobby is 100s of years old but so well-polished, it's like a mirror!). The staff is professional, warm, efficient, and have many good tips to help you enjoy Amsterdam to the fullest. Our suite was spotless, well-appointed and very comfortable with a breathtaking view over the canal. I could go on and on: breakfast was exquisite, the spa is a haven of relaxation, the garden has something magical... I humbly bow to and thank the Management and their team. Running a Luxury Hotel is an art, and these guys are the Michelangelos, the Rembrandts and the Da Vincis of the hotel World. Thank you! We will be back!

My wife and I just spent eight magical days at the Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam. The Sofitel staff, top to bottom, side-to-side, was perhaps the most warm, professional, and kind staff that my wife and I have ever encountered in a lifetime of personal and business travel. We were made to feel--at every touch point-- from Niels at the concierge desk, to Lucca in the restaurant, to Domingo in guest services, that we were long-lost friends back for a visit, treasured guests in their home. The staff always pointed us in the right direction. The Sofitel is the perfect home base to explore city-center Amsterdam and nearby attractions. We can't imagine staying anywhere else, and can't wait to return. Bravo, Sofitel.

We booked a four night package with Eurostar from London which is definitely the best way to travel and the hotel is just a short walk from the station. The food, drink and service are all as you would expect from Sofitel and I'd strongly recommend the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing in Bridges restaurant. I'd love to return, but if I did I would look for a package with breakfast included. Sofitel breakfasts are expensive and the location is within the red light district and most of the local cafes stink of cannabis, even at breakfast time so popping out for breakfast isn't as easy as in London or Paris.
