Very close to Dam Square, down a lane from a very busy street. We were taken up to the Studio apartment and were surprised how big a spacious it was. The only down side like most buildings in Amsterdam was the stairs being very steep. We would recommend this place to anyone wanting some where near to the Red Light...

The apartment is conveniently located downtown, just a few steps off Dam Square and within walking distance to all central attractions in Amsterdam. The owners also run a bikeshop on street level and are very helpful and friendly. The apartment is simple, but practical and clean and can accomodate 4 people comfortably with all basic objects one might need, with...

It was my first time in Amsterdam so I really did not know that this hotel did not serve breakfast. The location was city central and you can walk to everything. But, since the title said Bed & Breakfast it didn't include it. It was also very loud because it is on a side street. Probably would not stay there...

The apartment is great for a city break, 10min walk from station and the directions were easy to follow, very close to dam square. Right in the centre but still very quiet. We booked the 2 bed apartment which had lots of space, comfy beds and good kitchen. The apartment is basic but is fine as didn't spend much time...

We booked one of the 2 bedroom apartments here for a friend's birthday trip. It was a very reasonable price and because we wanted to stay in the centre of Amsterdam, we thought the price was great. It turns out that the location was even greater - 2 minutes away from Dam Square. We couldn't believe our luck. It's managed...

We chose this place because we only had one night in Amsterdam and wanted to be very close to the city center. Within walking distance of the railway station and 100 meters from The Dam this place meet our requirements. To be honest we wouldn't want to stay more than one night. We had two rooms. One overlooked the street...

We chose these apartments due to their central location and we weren't disappointed. Just off Dam Square, close to some lovely restaurants and within walking distance of Central Station. We had two, two bedroom apartments for 8 of us. The stairs up to the apartments are the usual steepness for Amsterdam. Once inside everything is there that you may need...

These people know about hospitality. The rooms are nice, comfortable, clean but nothing flash. All the basics are there and you could not ask for more when you are looking for inexpensive city accommodation.

The street outside is thronged with people day and night with a thousand fast food outlets. Enter the hotel and climb the steep stairs to a generous room full of light from the big windows. The room was quiet and no smell of cooking. The cost at €140 a night (£120, US$180) is competitive for the area and the use...

The location was the best thing about the hotel. Central to everything but couldn't hear any noise from the streets. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and even offered to carry our luggage up all the stairs. The room was very clean and couldn't fault it. Although my partner did have to duck to go to the toilet because...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
