We arrived on the 21st of January 2023 for 3 nights, very early in the morning, although check in was not until 1500hrs, we were able to leave our cases at the hotel and go for a look around the city, when we returned at 1400hrs, the room was ready and the cases had already been taken to the room. The staff are incredible and are very polite. Breakfast in the morning included a buffet with eggs, bacon and sausages and a lot of bakery items. Including an amazing coffee machine. You could also order an omelette , waffles and a Dutch pancake. The room wasn’t huge but perfect size, which opened up on to a balcony, we had a twin room and was very modern. The only suggestion I would say is that we needed a little more lighting in the nights to do make up, other than that it was perfect and very clean and tidy. The hotel is perfectly situated, with a tram stop right outside the hotel. We were able to walk every where and if we needed to go further we would get a tram, which is only 9 euros a day for all transport, using the gvb app. Can I also mention, that two girls travelling on their own, we felt very safe, with the doors being locked at 11pm and only being able to access the hotel with the room key. Also, if you are looking for a bar with great street food, right opposite the hotel, Bar Kartel is amazing!! I will be recommending the hotel to family and friends And if you go you need to order the dutch pancake with syrup!!…

Very nice,modern hotel in a fantastic location. Friendly,helpful staff. Room was a good size. The bed was large and very comfortable. Excellent walk-in shower. The lighting is quite dark in the room but that made it relaxing and it was very quite for sleeping as there are only three rooms in the corridor so no passing noise. Only three hangers for clothes and two small drawers. The was a bench area all the way along the wall which was good for sitting things on. The in room safe was quite small,didn’t hold my iPad and it was situated low down which meant I had to sit on the floor to use it plus shine my torch on phone to see combination as it was in the darkest part of the room. The tea and coffee tray was very basic.Two of us had to share the daily English breakfast tea bag as there only was one and NO milk pods. There is everything you need right on the doorstep of the hotel,supermarket next door,shops,bars,restaurants and Vondel Park literally two minutes walk. Leidseplein tram stop and night bus stop very close to hotel also.. The card we got with our room key on checkin stated that checkout was 12 noon. The day we were checking out,reception phoned our room at 11.30 and asked why we hadn’t checked out… All in all we would definitely stay here again.…

Bed bugs, apparently an ongoing issue in addition to that, water leaking from ceiling, dripping all over the bed would not recommend. Was difficult to get a new room. Really couldn't sleep because of the bugs.

Good points - Staff very kind, Location, No Noises To Improve - Cleaning (room was not that clean with clear dust over the bed), Organization on the hall ( i had the impression that i was hosted on the basement, once all cleaning stuff/cars were left on the hall, which shows not so much care with visual aspect of hotel )

Good location just on the margins of the town centre . Not far from most of the attractions especially the museums . Note there will be a tourist tax which I wasn’t aware of . Quirky little hotel but stylish . The girls on reception exceptionally friendly . Couldn’t have been nicer Rooms small but smart . Definately recommendation

Very nice and comfortable hotel close to all amenities.The room was cosy and very clean, with a lovely bathroom with a bath. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful too. The hotel was very close to a large square with bars and nice places to eat. If you wanted to go into the centre it was only a short tram ride away or else a 25 min walk. Lots of places to eat nearby and we ended up staying local most nights.

Lovely hotel with a great central location that meant we could walk everywhere we wanted to visit. All the staff on the front desk were so friendly and helpful. Our rooms were quite small and low lit but clean and tidy. They were absolutely fine for our four day stay. Breakfast was a buffet with other breakfast foods that could be ordered and cooked fresh. There are so many restaurants near by that you won’t struggle where to eat in the evening. Although the hotel doesn’t have a bar, you can self serve from the bar and pay at the front desk when you have finished. This was a new concept for us Brits but so easy to do. I would return to this hotel if staying in Amsterdam again.

The hostel is located near the city center. Here was a good service. Everytime returning in hotel we got clean room, new towels. There are kettle and coffee machine with tea and coffee bags. Taste water

We just got home after another amazing stay at Van De Vijsel. This hotel has to be our favorite hotel in Amsterdam, if not our all time favorite hotel. It’s so cozy, peaceful and relaxing. We always have such a great sleep while staying here. The rooms are beautifully designed and have such a nice vibe. The lobby cafe is the perfect spot for some work on your laptop or to grab some food & coffee! All of their staff are so kind, friendly and helpful! We can’t wait for our next trip to Amsterdam so we can stay again! 😊
