Making the reservation was fine. I was prompted to add some upgrades which I did. I did the mobile check in and the mobile key never worked. I was asked my arrival time and my room was not ready for me. Time was tight for me to catch a tour so I did not appreciate having to wait. One of my upgrades included champagne so when I picked up a glass I realized someone tied the two together and so the other one fell and broke on the floor. I wrote a letter that was supposed to be placed in my room but someone else’s letter was there instead. I wish I didn’t add the balloons because the room was so small and they got in my way all week and the fake flower petals were cheap looking. I had my beanbag chair and coffee station removed from the room. Someone from there responded in the app that it was done but it was not. I had to ask and wait again. I paid a premium for a room with a view and they didn’t mention there’s a new garbage dump across the street and that was my view. The moxy is supposed to have a welcome drink and I was not offered one until I asked. I ordered the signature drink 3x and it was different every time. The peach moxy on the menu was not good. It should be pink but also prosecco so goes flat. Just when I was thinking at least the hotel was clean, I saw the towel I had just used was badly stained in brown like feces. The location is really bad because you have to walk far on uneven bricks to the closest bus stop and there’s really nothing around to do or eat. One night the business next door had a huge party with a dj. The dj moved from outside to inside at 10pm but you could still hear the music. I did choose this hotel over another hotel because this is an American brand so usually you can expect certain things however the mattress was hard and lumpy and the air conditioner ok not gives you 3° to work with. I had to sleep with my window open. I believe that the staff want to do a good job but lack the manning and training and guidance. You should not be offering people to upgrade to extra things when you can’t even get the rest right yet. If I could offer a suggestion it would be to replace general manager and get more qualified supervisors.

This was my second visit to the Moxy Amsterdam and surely not the last. After visiting many properties around Europe, I can say this property is definitely my favourite one. The facilities follow a typical Moxy layout, but there are some special details that turn the Moxy Amsterdam way more special. The pool is amazing, the gym could be located at any 5-star hotel and the breakfast is top notch. I loved to have the breakfast at the upper level with great views to Amsterdam. The natural light is incredible. However, the true secret of this hotel is its Team (as any other good hotel!). The very well trained Moxy Crew went above and beyond to make sure my best friend would have a great birthday celebration - and they prepared our bedroom in a very Moxy way. Congratulations to all the Moxy Crew and its Captain for taking the guest experience to the next level! And thank you very much for the great time!

I worked remotely from Amsterdam for one week and stayed here. While the lobby is a cool place and certainly facilitates working from a laptop, it did become uncomfortable quickly. The location is good, bus 48 comes regularly. Note, do buy a pass for multiple days as it can be expensive for single journeys. The hotel staff were good, not over the top nice but helpful. If you havent included the breakfast in your room deal then avoid paying 15e per person as it is a poor breakfast selection. I also put a packet of Lays and M&Ms on the room which came to 7.50. Wow. Amsterdam is a very expensive place so not too surprising. Our room was really comfortable with a good view and the shower is glorious. While I would try another hotel in future id certainly say to others to try it.

Customer service was terrible from the offset. We arrived at about 9am and were met with presumably the receptions manager who had zero interest in being friendly, welcoming, or even polite. When we asked if it was possible for an early check her was extremely blunt and it set the tone for the rest of the stay.

After storing our bags, we asked for a coffee, to which the server stuck his hand in our face and said "No, use the machine". We wanted a proper coffee rather than from a self service machine, and only after asking two further times and feeling like we'd inconvenienced the café staff did they oblige.

The hotel is clearly painfully understaffed and staff are undertrained. Reception took ages to check people in and out and there was always a line with only one member of staff present.

One evening we went to the bar for drinks and the bar tender had absolutely no clue how to serve drinks. He took three attempts to make a cappuccino and when asked for a rum and coke he used Aperol. He apologised and said he wasn't trained to use the bar. I did feel sorry for him - it's unacceptable to put untrained staff in that position.

The bar food is poor quality and pre-prepared. Most of our order never arrived and it was a pain to take off the final bill when we left.

Overall the hotel is nice - cool setting and rooms are fine. Beds weren't very comfortable and pillows are peculiarly small!? The hotel is also quite a way from the city centre so bus or taxis needed (about 15 euro for a four seater).

The pool was also closed during out stay which we were not told about before arrival. We were offered a drink at the bar (half a pint) as a gesture of goodwill but in my opinion they should have contacted us before arrival to avoid disappointment.

Overall this hotel is not bad for the price but the service is a major let down. I can see this is a common theme from the comments below. Avoid. You can find better hotels, closer to the centre, with staff that are actually competent.

Very easy to get to from train station. Just a short bus ride (which come frequently) away and then a 5 minute walk Not a lot in the area, very industrial but nice and quiet and so close to downtown. We paid a bit more for the view of the water and it was worth every penny.

Hated the hallways. It is purposely designed to look old and run down with unpainted walls. Personally, I thought I It looked awful and it never grew on me. The rooms were decorated in a modern way and did not have the same look and they were also small but fine if you are going to be out all day. Everything was clean. It seems to be geared towards a younger crowd and has a college feel to it. I’m a bit older but this didn’t bother me. I would stay here again as it was a good price and very close to a bus stop.

Make sure you go to Adams Lookout. I really liked the roller coaster simulation there.. I also really enjoyed Zaanse Schanse (place with windmills). It was easy to get there by public bus so no need to pay for a tour.

First of all, I think it’s important to clarify that (while other reviews say that the bus station is four long blocks away) the bus station is only one block away, approximately 4-5 mins. The bus to the city centre runs very frequently and it takes around 10 mins to go to the central station. So even though, the hotel is not in the city centre, the location is still very convenient.

The hotel itself is very nice and clean. We were allowed to check in earlier and we even got a free upgrade for a deluxe room with sea view. Also we enjoyed the pool and the sauna.

The breakfast is ok but for 4 stars rather below average since the buffet was quite small and there were no fresh fruits. However, I appreciated very much that the hotel provided gluten free bread for me!

It’s also super convenient that there is a car park just below the hotel. However, it is a bit more expensive than stated.

Yes, the Moxy's style is created more for younger people, but thanks to the good concept of having two types of hotels in the same building, younger people can stay at the Moxy, while adults stay at the Recidence Inn (both brands are belonging to Marriott) . The hotels share the gym and the pool. The pool and sauna aren't particularly large, but they're nice. The gym is outstanding. Breakfast in the Moxy is good, the hotel staff is attentive and friendly. The rooms are clean. The hotel is located in an interesting mix of modern buildings and harbor atmosphere. The bus stop is a few minutes walk, the frequency of connections to the city center is good, you can reach the main train station with the bus in about 12 minutes.

The hotel itself and the view from our room was lovely, however the hotel staff that we were met with were rude and dismissive form the get go.
As soon as we arrived there was a lot of confusion with what we were being charged, resulting in the guy at the front desk making it feel as though he was trying to get rid of us and couldn’t really be bothered to deal with it.
Additionally, I ordered the upgrade that is offered for €30 (reduced from €45 which is what they usually charge) which is described as entailing rose petals being put on the bed, heart shaped balloons, and a bottle of bubbly on arrival. When we went up to the room we were met with four half inflated normal balloons on the bed, and scribbled writing and scribbled love hearts on our mirror and windows and that was it. I was really disappointed and pretty angry as this was supposed to be a surprise for my boyfriend. When I went to tell them, the same guy (didn’t catch his name but he had dark hair and was a slender build) told me ‘this is just how we do it thanks bye’ and waved me off. Apparently we would of had to come down for the Prosecco but were never told. I told them to just forget it. The customer service was just terrible and we felt like we were being a nuisance when we weren’t exactly asking for much. It really started our holiday with a bad taste in our mouths and we certainly won’t be coming back.

I’ve been here a few times. This is my go to hotel in Amsterdam. It’s easy accessible by bus/taxi. And the roomview is nice.

Central station is a 7min drive by car and 15/20min ride with the bus. The bar has delicious cocktails, and the lunch/diner options are good. Within walking distance you also have other options for food/drinks. The room was clean, cosy and had everything I needed for my short stay.

Last time I was here Jeroen helped me at the check-in. He informed me very well and had a welcoming attitude. He clearly enjoys his job. Thanks!

As platinum members, we could have taken a hotel anywhere in the city in a fair price, we choose this one, despite it being very far from the center, for one reason only- the pool.
No email was sent before. We checked in and no one said anything. Only when we went down to actually use the pool we discovered it’s closed! No apology, no let me compensate you with members points or a drink, absolutely ignored us.
The hotel is far away from everything, there is not even a tram, you need 30 minutes to get to the centraal with a bus, the rooms have a view but are very small, service was bad every time (breakfast, parking, check in and out) we just felt very unwanted.
