we had to wait a lot of time for our check-in, no one present at the reception for 30 minutes. rooms and corridor very dirty. we found a lot of insects in our room and when we ask to change room only after a lot of time they change but in other room we found again insect. and I found them also in my suitcase when I came home. in the toilet everything is dirty and there isn't toilet paper. we tried to call them to ask for a refound, they don't answer to the telephone.
We arrived at this hotel, in a seemingly good location, an easy tram ride from Amsterdam city centre, a little after our 2pm check-in time. First appearances, were ok, we arrived at the reception and were grunted at by the woman on reception without any eye contact, smile or pleasantries. She barked orders at us for information such as name and booking details. She was continuously interrupted and we were not the priority. During this time she was almost constantly talking in her own language (Asian) with little regard for the customers. She then asked us for payment, I informed her that we had paid when we booked with LastMinute.com, she did not believe us and tried thrusting the payment machine at us. I proved my booking from LastMinute.com as well as the payment on my online banking app. She was not entirely happy with this but eventually seemed to let it go. she thrust our key cards at us and then left reception, we assumed that that was check-in complete. This whole process took a little under an hour! we took the lift to the 6th floor where we were greeted with a foul smell of stale Chinese food and cigarettes. The carpet, (can be seen in photos) was disgusting!! stains and patches of dirt all over it, I genuinely believe the pavements on the streets of Amsterdam were cleaner than those carpets! We arrived to our room, and though it smelt a little cleaner than the corridor, I can assure you, IT WAS NOT! there was scuffs, chips and filth all over the walls and furniture, the window sill was disgusting with torn wallpaper and the window was broken, with the handle hanging off. We opened the door to the tiny bathroom, to find a puddle of filthy coloured fluid all over the floor. Just as were about to head back downstairs to complain, the woman that checked us in knocked on the door, She was still insistent we had not paid for the hotel room. She thrust a sheet of paper at us with several peoples names and bank details on and asking us to pick which card we had paid with from the list. No regard for other customers privacy! This woman was rude, ignorant and appeared to have NO social skills whatsoever, as well as a big issue with her level of understanding the Englsih language. Finally the payment issue was resolved and she sent a man in to sort the bathroom issue out, all he did was grab the clean towels off the rack and mopped it up then left. It was not cleaned at all and left a discoloured stain on the floor. Thankfully we had lots of things planned for our weekend in Amsterdam and had only intended to be there to sleep. The bed was quite comfortable and that was the only positive really. One night around 2AM when we arrived back to the hotel, we walked round the back, as there was no restriction to do so and we thought it would be quicker, this involved walking past the kitchen door. We obviously made enough noise that evening to disturb a rat as one shot out in front of us from the kitchen back to the stream that ran alongside the hotel, really disgusted by this we kept going and ahead of us was a shopping trolley with bags inside it, there was movement and rustling from this trolley and when alerted to our presence another 3 rats scarpered from the trolley and back to the stream. We headed up to our room disgusted at what we had seen and resolved not to eat here. (not that we had planned to) The hotel boasts a rainfall shower head, the water pressure to the shower is so incredibly poor that you would get greater pressure from actually standing out in the rain. They also advertise an LED Tv, which does not work. I have never stayed at such a disgusting hotel in my life, I couldn't wait to get home and shower and feel clean. How has this place not been shut down? it is not fit for purpose, its unhygienic and filthy!…
The hotel is so dirty! The carpets have so many stains. Our room was broken. The window couldn’t close, so we where freezing so much during the nights. The walls was so dirty, there was crumbles all over the floor, and the hotel smells so bad of smoke even though it’s a non smoking hotel. The door handles fell of when we tried to close the door. The ceiling was broken. And the smell was so bad.. after room service, they didn’t close the door.. so the door to the room was open all day while we were in the city center, and all out stuff was in there. I will never visit this hotel again.. ever. And I will recommend everyone who consider this hotel, to find another place to stay.
The pictures are extremely outdated, I think they only cleaned that one time when they took photos for Booking.com. The carpets (all of them, including the ones from the rooms and the hallways) are disgustingly stained, probably not even cleaned ever. The sheets, pillow cases, blankets and towels are all stained, both by periods and feces. The bathroom floors are beyond moldy. The safe deposit was locked. The TV was broken. The wardrobe had chips and crumbs inside, I don’t even know who leaves food in a clothes storage unit. The walls were distressed and the curtains were ripped apart. Now, moving onto the actual staff. I have had to contact the Booking customer service because the hotel did not answer our emails and calls. Upon arrival, the check-in took about 40 minutes, due to the staff’s very very very basic knowledge of English. There was a pungent smell of rotten dairy which was only solved a couple of hours later by some room perfume. It is very clear that they don’t know a single thing about service, accommodating, or even basic cleaning, let alone hotel-grade hygiene. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, my truly honest advice is to look somewhere else and just choose being healthy over anything else. We left with severe allergies from the bedsheets. It is just purely not acceptable.…
Terrible service, smell, cleanliness, location.... everything. The floors looked like they hadn't been hoovered in at least 6 months. The smell was greasy Chinese food as soon as you walked in. not to mention a 45 minute wait to check in.
