The apartment was modern, stylish and very clean with plenty of space to allow a family of four to relax. The location was a little out of the main centre of Amsterdam, but very close to Metro and Tram stops at Waterlooplein, so it never took very long to get anywhere, and it was a very nice walk to the... Fantastic location, very secure, comfortable, clean and relaxing environment. The beds were very comfortable and all the amenities perfectly suited. Bicycle hire 1 minute away at a very good price. 2 minutes away from the closest grocery store with loads of restaurants, coffee shops, bars etc within a 5 - 10 minute walk. Red light district and china town no... More

We were excited to stay in Amsterdam for a week. We were finally getting a week away. Unfortunately, due to the volcanoe, our flight was cancelled on Saturday and the airline said they could not get us out for another week. We were hoping De Lastage would at least credit us for a future stay but all they offered was... More

De Lastage is a very hospitable and incredibly nice Apartment Complex. It's very central and the supermarket and liquor store is a minute away. The rooms are just impeccable, with a nice balcony, big TV stereo, awesome kitchen and the design of the apartment is neat and warm. The beds are great, the shower is fantastic, the bathroom sink is... More

We were 3 friends who stayed four nights at De Lastage, in a three-bedroom apartment. The pictures on the website looked a little "too good to be true", but at arrival we where shocked to find that the apartment was even bigger and nicer than what we imagined from the photos. Bedrooms where large and comfy, living room was huge... More

Overall, we liked this hotel but wish we had known more before booking. My family of 5 including 3 young children just finished a 3 night stay at a De Lastage 3 bedroom apartment. Please note that this is an apartment, not a hotel, and as such some of the normal hotel amenities are not available. See below for pluses... More

It's not right in the center of Amsterdam but you can go everywhere (downtown, Amstel canals, Dam square) by walking. Comfortable, warm, great bath, cool elevator and very friendly staff!!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
