Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kees Hotel is the Best for Irish hospitality, friendly staff, fabulous food & wine, great water pressure in shower, nice toiletries ,comfortable beds and terrific Sunday evening entertainment provided by Pat McLean. The atmosphere in Kees is friendly and relaxing,a home from home.If I were a woman travelling solo I would be very happy to stay here.If you like modern ,impersonal, soulless hotels then this is not the place for you but if you want Donegal hospitality at it’s best then this is your place. No wonder Kees has been in business for at least 3 generations of the same family.

Beautiful old building with lots of history. The bedroom was lovely, with a very comfortable huge bed. Bathroom is in need of refurbishment but nice toiletries and towels. Breakfast was lovely, with a great choice. Parking and Wi-Fi available

A beautiful ivy covered hotel with lovely rooms, dining room, entry and bar. It's like walking back in time....all beautiful wood and victorian-right up my alley! Staff were friendly and helpful. We looked out to the patio area that was serene and quiet at night.

Stayed here with my wife in march, was here before Covid glad to see they are constantly making improvements to the hotel as the room we stayed in clearly had work done recently. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the restaurant and went down to the bar for some nice drinks with live music. Overall really enjoyed my stay and will be back again

I hate to slate anywhere but this was disappointing. The rooms are awful. The fist one we were given was so hot inside you were actually sweating. We asked for the heat to be turned off when going for dinner and when we returned it was even warmer. The staff quickly got us a new room, grant it a lot smaller but at least cool, it was so musty and old fashioned with cheap accessories, probably hasn’t had a face lift in the last 50 years, seriously. Now the eating experience is not too bad. Let down with lipstick on a wineglass and old porridge still stuck on a bowl at breakfast. The portions are big but not much love showing from the chef. Probably bought in already prep ingredients that so many crap restaurants do now. Definitely with the garlic fries with no sign of garlic butter. The steak wasn’t too bad but the chef attacked the peice of meat several times with a knife to check if it was cooked to my medium rare request. The sea bass was a good bit of fish ruined by the chef with a soggy skin on the fish instead of the preferred crispy skin option that most other talented chefs would produce. The deserts now weren’t bad with a banana split and almond tart consumed which may of even been baked in house, but wouldn’t be confident to comment as it was the only thing that looked it may have shown some skill in producing. The breakfast was ok, nothing brilliant. It had the usual for a full Irish , let down with cheap red or brown sauce that tasted nothing like Heinz or HP. The drinks were not bad with a half decent French Martini and Espresso Martini consumed with an average pint of Guinness. But the Dark and Stormy was absolutely horrendous. If you are well into your sixties and don’t really mind how crap your bedroom will be and don’t really have a clue about food you may be alright here. However, the staff were lovely and can only work with the tools provided I suppose. This place desperately needs an investor to give this place a complete overhaul and make it back to the once great establishment it was in the past. Until I hear this has been done I would avoid at all costs even if the price doesn’t look too bad, it will be. We did share our concerns when checking out and who I can only take was the manager who took onboard our concerns and gave us a reduced rate on our bill. I thank you kindly for that and would love to read in the future that this hotel has had a complete makeover and it’s the talk of the county of how good it is, but I do dread the future of Kees going forward.

Established in the late 1800's this property has evidently grown organically with the addition of new extensions. Hence the maze of corridors can be challenging. My room was clean, with modern facilities and a good size. A pleasant hotel with helpful staff. I requested a quiet room at the rear of the property, which I received. hence sleeping quality was 8/10. Good value for the price charged.

I recently stayed in this lovely hotel and I could not fault it one bit. I was especially impressed by the smooth running of the bar. The barman "Michael" was delightful. Well done and keep up the good work

What really lovely hotel, its a family run hotel with excellent staff. We had dinner in the restaurant and again came across excellent, polite and attentive staff (Sarah and Laura) .The king prawns where excellent and cooked in a beautiful creamy sauce. Nothing was a problem. We have stayed several times, definitely worth a visit and will be back.

Wonderful meal for me and my boyfriend. Had both a 3 course meal and extreme caution taken by the staff of his egg, nut and shellfish allergies. Very rare he can have a desert and could actually have an ice cream sunday due to vegan ice cream. Extremely impressive on a busy weekend
