Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Boutique Hotel Helvetia captivates guests with its delightful atmosphere, where unique decor meets traditional design, creating an enchanting river view. The service is consistently lauded for its friendly and attentive staff, while the hotel's cleanliness shines, with well-maintained rooms and pristine surroundings. Although the rooms are cozy and stylish, a few guests find them a bit compact.
Its location is a stone's throw from key attractions and public transport, though the nearby trams may sometimes disrupt the peace. Amenities and overall value are appreciated, despite some feedback on the breakfast pricing and toiletries.

Great location, great food, great drinks and above all great service. The lady who served me breakfast was so nice and professional. I was there on 2 Feb, but unfortunately I did not get her name. I love the deco too! The idea of drawing room n library is very clever. Thank you very much.

Love that hotel. It is located ideally in the between 2 tram stations and you can reach everything by foot. Comfy, thé stylishly renovated old building combines flair, quality and contemporary art meticulously placed around. To round it all up, the staff is super friendly and thinking along - def should try it out :)

We stayed for 5 nights and loved everything about it. The staff is super accommodating, we had to extend our stay by one night and it was the easiest process. The restaurant bar attached was amazing, reasonably priced drinks and the bartenders were incredibly friendly, they remembered us after just one visit and we ended up going every night! The location is also great, directly next to a tram stop that takes you to all the necessary places (main station, old town, shopping district) without needing to make any transfers. It's also easy walking distance to all these places as well. I can't say enough good about this place, I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Zurich!

The room was spotlessly clean and the bed comfy. Well soundproofed and nice products in the bathroom. I travel a lot and expect a multi-plug for chargers etc in the room, which the hotel did not have and the only accessible plug point was in the bathroom. Basic continental breakfast was available, which was fine for the price. Staff friendly and helpful. The bar is a lot of fun and seems popular and lively. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent. I would happily return.

We got a great apartment 52, it is the most expensive for the space worth it; great view and lots of space for family with kitchen. Staff is great. We stayed 3 nights and it was 10 mins walks to Main Train station and everything you want to see. I love their balcony and library room and selection of complimentary tea and coffee and even toiletry in refill bottles were high quality.

The location of this hotel made walking to all things in the old town area very easy as well as walking to the central train station. The hotel room was very quiet even on a corner of two fairly busy streets. Zurich as a city seems more quiet and calm than other cities. The airconditioning unit worked beautifully and it's low hum likely cut out the outside noise too. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Our adapter did not fit into the wall sockets - no worries, the front desk had an adapter unit that they loaned to us, problem solved. There is a library room with attached terrace that was lovely to use including a coffee machine and tea bags gratis. We did not partake of the breakfast, there are coffee shops nearby and the Coop To Go was my favorite place to pick up fresh croissants and a coffee. Just remember, everything in Switzerland costs twice what it does in the US. Just be ready for that!!!! All in all, we were very happy with our stay and will recommend and hopefully return to this hotel another time.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay in this comfortable and tastefully decorated small hotel. The exterior has the charm of an older building but is well-maintained with modern facilities. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms which had a comfortable bed with a Hastens mattress and a modern decent size bathroom. It was nice to be on the 4th floor facing the canal as the streets are quite busy during the day but are much quieter at night. Breakfast was good with abundant sweet and savory options and good strong coffee! Reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a nice busy neighborhood about a 10-15 minute walk or a quick tram ride from the main train station.

Amazing hotel in the centre of Zurich! The hotel has a great charm with the combination of the 'old' outside building and the new, modern interior. The staff is very helpful and attentive, the room was large and super clean, there are two 'public' rooms/options on the ground floor where you can work (incl. free coffee and tea), there is even a little terrace at the back of the hotel overlooking the river 'Sihl' - you feel like being in a secluded little 'paradise' in the middle of a busy city! Also, there is a restaurant inside the hotel serving great meals - lunch, dinner as well as breakfast. I will definitely consider staying at Boutique Hotel Helvetia Zurich again.

I stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Booked on booking.com. The confirmation said they will not charge my credit card before my arrival. I received an email two days before my arrival from the hotel asking if they could already charge my credit card!
The day of arrival i came at 4:55pm. I rang twice at the reception: no one came. I called the hotel, someone said the reception closes at 5pm and i should go to the restaurant for the check in.
Then i went to the restaurant; a nice guy escorted me to the front desk. There were a condescendant guy sitting there and saying that I never rang the bell, nor called!….. go on, call me a liar…
Anyway then happened the useless check in experience ever. They send you an email with all informations regarding to your stay the day prior to your arrival. That is your problem to read that email before your arrival-which i didn’t do.
So don’t ask any questions at the reception because they will tell you to read the email… Dude i know its past 5pm you had a long day at work and you just wanna go home and/or having drinks but i was very disappointed with your attitude.
Note that they also offer a free gym pass for Indigo Fitness which is really cool. I asked for one in my booking. They said that i’ll find the voucher in my room.
Guess what : no voucher in my room :/ i went back to the front office but in the meantime they had closed the reception so i wasn’t able to do my workout before the day after.
So i went back in the next morning asking for that precious voucher that wasn’t in my room; i asked another guy at the front desk who started laughing and said that it happens all the time (keep it for yourself the next time).
Anyway the hotel is lovely and the location is great. I may come back there for another stay and who knows I may write a better review than this one :)

I visit Zurich with some regularity.
Visited this hotel for the first time and immediately added it as my favorite. Especially the price and quality ratio.
Lovely Hästens beds that I really have to buy at home soon. And you definitely don't have to take a hair dryer here anymore. They have a very thorough professional hair dryer of the Swiss brand Solis "Swiss Perfection" in the room. We are also going to buy for home immediately!!! Nicely central to the center, nice restaurants and coffee bars in the area. I definitely recommend this one!

Hello, thank you for your message. The breakfast Buffet is CHF 25.00 per person. 07.00-10.30 weekdays, 08.00-12.00 weekends. Kind regards
The breakfast is not included. We do offer a nice continental breakfast buffet.
Take the train to Zurich HB from the airport (about £8) and then S10 or S4 from the HB to Selnau (1 stop). You can buy the S ticket on the platform (a short journey is just over £2). Or you can walk. It’ll take about 20 mins.
