Detailed Reviews
Montreux Palace has been on our list to visit for many years. In February we finally made this happen!
We booked a Lake View room and in the preparations for this, the designated Guest Experience Manager (GEM) was of great help.
Arriving at the hotel on Friday 21 February we were welcomed by an extremely friendly bell boy who took take of our luggage and afterwards parked our car. We had a nice chat with him and we felt very welcome. The lady at reception was also extremely friendly and we received an upgrade to a Lake View room de luxe. She accompanied us to the room. This room located on the 5th floor was absolutely amazing and we were lucky to have fantastic weather while being in Switzerland.
What struck us was the friendliness and service of staff during our stay. Obviously what really struck us was Montreux Palace itself with its rooms, corridors, spa etc. We had an amazing dinner in the Montreux Jazz Café and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast as well.
Yes, staying at Montreux Palace is expensive (Montreux as such is expensive) but for us it was worth it. We hope to visit the Fairmont Montreux Palace again.

When you get your first view of this Hotel from the lake you get the feeling you are about to step inside a classy establishment and the Fairmont doesn't let you down. It has the feel of an old school quality hotel which unfortunately so many others just can't match.
We had a deluxe lake view room, no. 201, which was magnificent and exceeded our expectations, the view of the lake and mountains opposite was fantastic. The room itself was big and pristine.
There was so much choice at breakfast that you simply could not eat enough to do it justice and all of the food was wonderfully prepared.
I particularly liked the Lounge Bar and Funky Claude's both of which had a really nice ambience.
I agree with some of the comments that the swimming pool area can get very busy but I don't think it is too crowded and the spa area in general is immaculate and looked after by the staff. In general the staff at this hotel really go out of their way to ensure that their guests have a good time.
Whilst this type of service and class do not come cheap I would recommend anybody who is celebrating a special occasion to consider the Fairmont as a destination.

We stayed at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace for a night during a road trip, although a short stay we enjoyed our time there. Our room (Deluxe Lake View) was overlooking the lake with the mountains I the background 👌👌The hotel is nicely decorated and the service cannot be faulted. The pool and spa are fantastic with load of space and excellent amenities.
We had dinner at the hotel's Terrasse du Petit Palais restaurant, very pleasant place overlooking the lake and lake's bank, the food was exeptionally nice too, we recommend the Queue de lotte and the Lobster tagliatelle.
We'll definitely go back for longer stay.

Our stay was really good and are defenitly coming back next year. The staff is all really friendly and the service and room are really good
Housekeeping is perfect, they always check when we are leaving and if they can clean the room or that they should wait. With the turn down service they check the entire room again.
We had dinner in Jazz Café this was good, but we personally didn't like the menu for another day the second day we really enjoyed the dinner in Funky Claude's bar and recomend going here.
As a ALL Gold member we got upgraded to the Junior Suite, this was really nice (from the deluxe lake view room)

+1
Best experience ever. Extremely worthy of a Fairmont hotel.
We checked-in in a jiffy, staff was polite and professional. Our room was marvelous - beautiful European style, spacious, clean and the view was breathtaking. We asked for extra duvets and a kettle and housekeeping delivered them in 5 minutes. Hotel gave us a box of exquisite pralines as a welcome gift. They also gave us two welcome drinks to be redeemed at the restaurant or bar. Amazing hospitality.
Service at the bar was also great - the bartender spoke excellent English and came to check in with us on our order of drinks and refilled our snacks.
Would love to come back to stay again during summer next time to enjoy Montreux and the hotel to the fullest.

Our stay in the Freddie Mercury suite was exceptional. Valet parking on arrival was seamless and our greeting at reception as All Accor members was very professional. The spa, indoor and outdoor pools and sun loungers overlooking the lake are the ultimate relaxation. We had a facial and a massage at the spa and both treatments were great with knowledgable staff. We had breakfast and dinner at La Terrasse du Petit Palais, stunning views and excellent food. The hotel felt very COVID safe.
Our suite was well air conditioned and enough rooms for us and our pre teen (and his PlayStation!). The roof terrace is to die for with its views of the lake.
Our only points of improvement would be a faster (or any) response to emails to front desk. Responses were slow both before and during our stay for any queries or requests (Concierge were super helpful its worth noting). The spa staff were wonderful apart from the lady who momentarily manned the desk who was wearing cream trousers and a white shirt who barked “speak French” when I enquired about the location of the toilets.
We hope to return very soon. Thanks for such a great stay.

I normally stay more than 100 days in hotels before COVID and holding Platinum status at various hotel chains.
The Fairmont hotel Le Montreux Palace definitely does not meet my expectation. As a 5 star hotel, clearly know we have little baby and elderly, we have been assigned to 2 rooms (connected) with stairs in the room. The rooms have been divided into 2 parts, and the major functions, you need to step up 3 stairs. It may be easy for young, but hard when you are with baby and senior. Also, anyway, in a 5 star hotel, it is very weird seeing stairs in room (not suite).
The SPA service told us clearly as free cancelation at anytime. But the manager of reception insisted to charge a penalty us. Interestingly, the penalty is negotiable. The experience with Fairmont service is similar and quality poorer than a weekend street market.
We asked for overly boiled eggs for our baby, and clearly stated to boil at least 8 minutes. The eggs we got back were raw. Yes, hot and raw.
Very poor wifi, could not even join Teams call.
Super noise A/C system and road noise. The Lake View rooms is more expensive and very noise.
NO COVID protection at all. No specially cleaning, no mask, no anything.
I will not choose Fairmont or ALL again.

The hotel is beautiful and the best option by far in Montreux. We splurged on a lovely corner lake view suite and enjoyed the expansive Christmas market right across the street. The gym is large, especially by European standards, and the pool and spa facilities are impeccable. The breakfast buffet was excellent and changed daily to keep it from being monotonous. We also had a lovely dinner in the Jazz Bar one night. I did find the service to be good albeit not overwhelmingly so as some of the other reviews here would have you believe. Also good to note the hotel does not serve alcohol at breakfast, you will find yourself waiting until 2pm to enjoy a glass of champagne or one of their famous bloody Mary’s.
Like most Fairmont’s worldwide, this property invests in the maintenance and renovation of the common areas instead of updating the rooms. While the rooms are large in size and the views are good, it’s the typical things you find in Fairmont’s like mismatched and broken down furniture, lots of scratches and ripped upholstery, faded carpets and a very dated 1980s style bathroom with a tub that doesn’t fit anyone taller than 5’6 (we are 6’ which I don’t think is particularly tall, however we could not physically fit in the bathtub). The shower too is quite small and the hot water comes and goes during your shower so you may find yourself scalded or frozen halfway through. If I could make one recommendation to the management, it would be to invest in renovating the bathrooms to be more modern and comfortable, especially in a country renowned for its bathing and spa culture. A small investment or a few thousand francs per room (what they charge for a 2 night stay!) would really make the suites much more comfortable.
We also had a problem with the front desk management as despite the above mentioned shortcomings, we wanted to extend our stay one more day, and we were told quite coldly that they have “some very good customers” coming and that it would be impossible. That comment left a bad taste in my mouth, I didn’t realize we were not “very good” customers of Fairmont, they didn’t make the effort to even look at my platinum status as I am very loyal to Fairmont in Canada and the US where I live. Not the best send off, and the arrogance of the front desk staff would make me hesitate to return.

We booked our stay more than four months in advance, using some Accor Le Club - Points. Nevertheless, I had the whole amount charged to my credit card the next day. After two calls (one to Accor, the second one to the hotel directly after not getting any reaction), the mistake has been solved and the money refunded.
The second disappointment was our restaurant booking: I reserved a table at MPs Bar & Grill (still four months in advance) and also received a confirmation. Four days before our arrival, I received an email of the staff, saying that the restaurant will be closed. At this point in time, it was not anymore possible to get a table at another haute cuisine restaurant nearby!
Now to the positive things: our stay itself. The hotel is perfectly located, the rooms are spacious and very nice, epsecially those facing the lake, the spa is definitely worth a visit and also the breakfast is good.
To sum it up: I would rate our stay with the best rating, if it weren't for some no-gos in the administration!

We had a delightful one night stay in the Montreux Palace. Staff were welcoming and efficient; our lake view room was spotless and provided a peaceful atmosphere to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views across Lake Geneva. Breakfast buffet presented the diner with a smorgasbord of delicious, freshly prepared fruit, bread, cereals, cold meats & cheeses and hot made to order food and beverages. The staff in the restaurant couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful making us feel very special!! Particular thanks to Meike and Leonilde who looked after us so well!!
