I stay for 2 nights. Zermatt is the nearest town you can stay when you visit Matterhorn/Gornergrat, so the price of Alpina is actually fair. I booked the room quite early therefore I subsequently changed the date and room type a serval time, but the host is very nice and gave quick respond. Although it's a room for single occupancy,... We stayed here for one night back in 2011 and it was wonderful. This time we stayed here for 5 nights. We were hiking the Tour of Monte Rosa and we stayed there before and after our hike. The location is great- just a block from the main street. It is super-clean and quiet. The rooms are lovely with nice... More

I'm not sure if there is a bad place to stay in Zermatt as the town is pretty small and almost everything is within a 15 minute walk but Hotel Alpina was a pleasant surprise. Located in the older district of town, I booked a solo room on booking.com for $67.50 CHF a night which included breakfast. I had a... More

Nathalie and Manuela were very friendly and helpful and recommended where to hike. My room nr 25 was lovely with view to Matterhorn. Location was great, just 10 minutes walk from train station. I was there 3 nights and slept very well - no noise at all. Breakfast was tasty. There was even list of the TV channels in the... More

The staff were lovely, great friendly service. Lovely breakfast - homemade bread and jam. Rooms basic but they, and whole hotel, were very clean. Very old fashioned traditional place, not what I normally like at all but I loved it. Comparatively reasonable in price too (all hotels expensive in Zermatt)

We spent three nights in Zermatt, and was quite content with this hotel. The room was simple, but clean. Breakfast was good. The location is very good with short walking distance to train station and main street. Hotels in Zermatt are expensive, so this is a good alternative to the pricier ones.

At the price point the Alpina operates, and recognising that it's in the hyper expensive resort of Zermatt THIS horel cannot be beaten. Owned by Thomas & Elizabeth and operated by Natalie and her sister it is uber friendly, comfortable, clean,.great breakfast and well situated. If you're interested in mountaineering, Thomas in his younger days was a high mountain guide.... More

Stayed here for two nights at the end of the Haute Route - 20 day walk from Chamonix. The hotel exceeded all expectations. Very clean, friendly environment, great breakfasts, great location very close to the centre of Zermatt. Natalie and her sister were so very helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed 2 nights at the Alpina Hotel. Zermatt is a very busy tourist town! So we welcomed the quieter location of this place. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the delightful garden/patio area. We also saw the top of the Matterhorn peaking over the top of a rooftop. The room was spacious with... I was passing through Zermatt as a solo female traveller and wanted to stay somewhere on a budget for a couple of nights. Alpina was perfect! Super cosy and clean located right in the town centre and only 5mins walk from train station. Very good value for money and I had no problem with shared toilet and bathroom both were... More
