We were privileged to spend two nights at this lovely hotel set in the heart of Zermatt. Our room was at the back, very quiet and beautifully appointed in what the hotel terms “Alpine Style”. Very friendly, helpful and professional staff.

There are no real Avalanches only controlled explosives to stop any snow slides. If the weather is too bad the lifts are stopped. I was in Zermatt last week and sat in the hotel one day due to bad visibility and high winds. There is a lot of safety on the slopes and the professionals are very courteous, I am 75 years old and can not take any risks but felt safe on the slopes. Last year there was no snow and this year the sky has made up for lost time and supplied more than you nee. Good luck.

I would think if you want to avoid a long train Journey then fly to Geneva or Zurich depending on the flight time and Train schedule.. bestway then is to take the train from the airport (1 stop via visp) to Zermatt.. I have tried both a car drive from the airport and the train, but I must say, the train is much more convenient and cheaper
