We stayed a week, booked from the UK through an agent (which offered a number of hotels) - we chose Belvedere for its traditional look and promises of being in a quiet location with stunning views. We got what we expected! We had a good room with balcony views over the mountains. Its a short walk from the station up the hill - worth it as we heard others staying at hotels nearer the centre/station suffered noise at nights. Food was well presented and varied buffet style - menus were well thought through and it was good to get away from steaks and chips! The staff were good and attentive
A lovely hotel. We booked a double room with mountain view; the views were amazing! The bed and easy chairs were comfortable, bathroom very good, lighting good (unlike in many UK hotels), staff were helpful. Food was great- We ate our evening meal there most nights even though we hadn’t booked full board. I need a gluten free diet and have never felt as well catered for in a restaurant as in this one! Everyday the chef would let me know what I could eat from the buffet. If there was no suitable main course he cooked me something! Most of the restaurant staff were helpful & attentive. It’s a bit of a trek up from the station so make use of the baggage shuttle (we didn’t and regretted it!)
Travelled as a couple in a walking group. This hotel has an old fashioned rustic feel. Quiet location but easy 5 minute walk to the train station, cable car and well stocked co-op. Moderate sized rooms. Decor is a blast from the 70s all orange and yellow. Bathroom has a bath (great) and plentiful hot water. It is also terracotta/orange so remember those sunglasses! Comfortable beds. Heavy duvets. Good for winter but very hot for hot humid summer nights as we experienced. No air conditioning so leave windows open at night. Very few insects. There was one socket but a Swiss international adaptor in the wardrobe so you could use 3 items at once if you wanted to. No piped music throughout the hotel which was great. Good internet. Food was a reasonable range of home cooked meals to suit various diets. This is repeated weekly. Lovely sunny terrace next to the bar, no natural shade though here. Reasonable prices for wine/drinks. Service a bit slow for drinks at the dining room so order all you want at the start of the meal. Bring your own travel kettle for drinks in your room or for flasks. Mountain restaurants are pricey as you can expect so if you want a packed lunch you need to go to one of the two well stocked mini markets in town which cater well for daily packed lunches and are open from 8am. Welcoming hotel just opposite the cinema.…
Not long back from another great week. As always, friendly, helpful team, without exception from the manager to the handyman. With good food served buffet style. Really enjoyed our stay. A very traditional hotel with no spa which is not something we care about.
This is a hard one to review: the pros are terrific and the cons are a little tough. Location is really good: within walking distance of train station and town but a little apart, so quieter than an in-town location. It's a very old hotel and they've tried to preserve that old-world elegance to good-but-not-perfect effect. Looks a little shopworn. And the old room keys are supposed to be charming, but don't work well and are a pain. But the patio - oh my! - gives an unparalleled view of Eiger mountain and the Jungfrau. No matter the season, be sure to have a drink or something warm out on the patio. Our room faced the other way from the mountains and the view, but that was fine - the woods were pretty too. Issues, though, included: Only one "modern" outlet in the room. Front desk staff wanted to overcharge drinks by $35. Wait staff, although nice, wasn't very efficient (bar folks were much better). The buffet (which is all they do - no a la carte) was mediocre-to-poor.…
We've visited here many times and never been disappointed, the place is very traditional and feels homely. They all make you welcome. Its positioned just far enough away from the centre to be peaceful but still only minutes away from amenities. Our room this time was facing the mountains and the views were stunning. We found a good choice of food on offer (its a buffet arrangement, so you can pick and mix to satisfy most tastes).
A lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The large window and balcony gave access to marvellous views of the large valley and mountains. Friendly and helpful staff. A very comprehensive breakfast. The only negative being no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Very unusual in this day and age
We didn’t know what to expect from a place that you can’t drive to. We were very pleased by everything during our stay. We arrived a little later than most guests but Roberto in the dining room made sure that we had a delicious meal before we turned in for the evening. Our room had large windows and the most spectacular view of Jungfraujoch. We hope to come back and stay longer. The whole experience was incredible.
We stayed for one week in March 2022, there were 9 of us ranging in age from 24 to 74. The hotel was lovely, a short walk from the train station and village. The food was buffet style, very fresh and delicious. We all found food to enjoy every night. The bar was welcoming and comfortable and there was always plenty room, great range of drinks and all reasonable priced. The rooms were big and we all had a small balcony. It was quiet at night which was lovely. Mind and take a Swiss adapter for your appliances or you can rent one from reception. I took a standard European adapter and it only fitted in one socket. Great wi-fi reception. Comfortable beds. There is a hairdryer and safe in the room. Added bonus - breakfast served until 10.30am
Absolutely fantastic. The facilities and the staff are wonderful. They are so friendly, helpful. It just makes the holiday. The breakfasts are great with loads of choice and set you up for the day. Thank you so much and we will be back again.
