We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Baren and had a wonderful stay. We originally had the Cozy room, but we upgraded to rooms 101/109 so that we could have a little "suite" and had a balcony in the main room with stunning views of the mountains and Lauterbrunnen. The rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and had nice amenities. The staff was beyond gracious and ensured our stay was wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic with a lot of great options. I would definitely return to the Hotel Baren should we come to Wengen again. Thank you for an amazing stay!
We had a great stay here. The room is clean and modern. The view from the balcony was incredible. Staff were all very kind and helpful. We chose to the do half board so had dinner and breakfast at the hotel on site which was great as well.
For over 40 years we have been visiting Wengen and at last we have arrived at Hotel Bären. We have stayed in several Wengen hotels and this one is at least equal with the best. Yes, it's a sharp hill to walk down for about 150 metres to reach the hotel but the station is right there at the top of the slope. We were made very welcome and this was added to by one of the staff who we knew from visits to another hotel which has now changed hands with less than good results. The bedroom was very comfortable with some unusual extras such as a pair of binoculars and a shoe horn! The space taken up by the shower was the size of a bath so perhaps it's a shame it wasn't a bath with a shower over. A good soak in a bath is an excellent idea on a skiing holiday. Now we come to the best bit - the food. It really was excellent. We took the half board option which meant we could choose from the a la carte menu. A minority of the choices had CHF5 supplements but half board guests staying more than only a few days could also choose items from an extra menu. Small slates were brought to the table with a few house specials written on them so the choice of food was far greater than the menu card leads you to believe at first reading. sometimes the main course was a little late arriving but we've known far worse. The wait was worth it. The owners and staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is not a big over-luxurious affair. It's a family run medium size and comfortable - very comfortable. I may add that the male half of the owning couple is the chef! Thoroughly recommended. We usually stay in Spiez by Lake Thun in the summer and precede that with a few days elsewhere ,often in a part of Switzerland we don't know. This year the first few days will be in Wengen at hotel Bären.…
Stayed as part of a group, half-board. They fitted a friend staying elsewhere in for dinners. Choice of food excellent (a few supplements but most of a la carte available). Indeed, friends staying elsewhere who knew the town said it was a destination restaurant. Wine choice good. No bar but a small lounge for drinks (and in any event near the centre of Wengen). Staff all very friendly. Rooms modern, most had a small balcony with chairs and a view. NB Wengen traffic-free but they can arrange to pick up and drop luggage. Location just downhill from station so not far from centre of village and Maennlichen lift.
We traveled mid March to all three and simply loved Wengen the best and in particular hotel Baren! Like most of us, I did my research, read the reviews and made the decision to visit Upon arrival they immediately made my family feel welcomed, very welcomed which only grew with time. The food was great, but the people were even better starting with Therese. My only regret… not purchasing two of their coffee mugs to relive the memories
