Ideal situation in Wengen. The staff were excellent and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The evening meal was 1st class with waiter service. It was not a buffet but a wonderful different menu each night put together by the wonderful chef Mateous. An alternative was offered if a course was not to the guests liking. I would recommend this hotel.
I felt fortunate being moved to the Hotel Silberhorn after my original reservation was in a hotel that wasn't open during the summer season. But the Silberhorn was in a perfect location, right next to a Coop supermarket and right across from the train station. I really fell in love with Wengen and wish I had more than 2 nights to stay there. The hiking in this area was a dream come true - and the best part was coming back to a quiet and relaxing room. The hotel staff was the true definition of excellent customer service. I look forward to coming back soon and will definitely stay at this hotel.
Great hotel right across from train station but up the hill so you don’t hear it… charming rooms with comfortable beds and great views. Restaurant was great, breakfast each day was really good, great staff. The only reason we give 4 stars is a few small missing items. No air condo ( very warm nights on a heat wave ) no water or small fridge in room. No hand towels in room. No elevator in exterior building. ( we had a lot of luggage, no screens on windows… slight imperfections for an otherwise perfect stay. Staff was great! I highly recommend
This is a very nice hotel I was moved here as there sister hotel was not open yet I must say the manager of this hotel is one of the best. He was here and there he even helped out in the dining room. And nothing was to much trouble. Rooms look new and very nice. Large bathroom s The food at dinner was very good a set menu but choices for mains Breakfast was good but the hot food was never hot But I would recommend this hotel Traveled with INGHAMS one of the best to use
We were originally booked in the sister hotel Wengenhof but last minute we have been moved to this hotel of the same category. Overall our stay was very good, the hotel is located just few steps from the station and has a little coop supermarket and other shops in the proximity. Room was good size, clean, a but outdated in terms of style but with all comfort. We enjoyed the spa facility after a day hiking. Breakfast buffet had very good offering including eggs (omelette, poached etc), service was also quick and attentive. The only missing part was the room view of the Jungfrau as that is what we originally had in the other hotel, but a part from this, we would recommend this place, especially if you are looking for a hotel in an easy location.
We were originally booked into a sister hotel, Wengener Hof, but due to low bookings in all three “sister” hotels, we were consolidated into the Hotel Silberhorn. The Wengener Hof and Silberhorn handled this consolidation beautifully. There was no inconvenience for us. We were given a beautiful comparable room and greeted personally by the Hotel Director, Mr. Feller and Julia at the front desk. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we both have some mobility issues and the Silberhorn is a 2 minute walk to the train station. It is still “shoulder season” and Wengen is not fully open yet so the majority of the restaurants, hotels and stores are closed. It is actually a very peaceful time to visit. Our room is amazing; a family room with a turret balcony on the 5th floor, 528. Thank you Mr. Feller. There is a spacious, efficient elevator (lift). The included breakfast buffet is fabulous with a large variety of offerings including freshly cooked eggs. They have the best croissants I have ever had. There is a large selection of fresh fruit including incredible strawberries. The service is attentive but not intrusive. I would describe it as elegant dining without a stuffy atmosphere. The Dining Manager, Alex, was excellent. They have an aperitif event on Sunday evenings which was a lovely way to meet other guests. The beds are very comfortable and we both have back issues. The internet is very fast. The TV has a large selection of English speaking channels; the best so far on our five week European trip. The chairs and couch are very comfortable as are the balcony chairs. The bathroom is spacious. My only issue was that all the bathrooms have a tub which is difficult for me but I made it work. I always book hotels with a walk-in shower. The room decor is a bit outdated but everything is spotless. The cupboards need cushions on the doors as everything slams shut. We were delighted that there were no church bells ringing at all hours! Very quiet at night. The other thing that I missed was a coffee machine in the room (as did other guests I talked with). They have a kettle with Nescafe powdered coffee packets and tea bags. For Americans, powdered coffee just isn’t drinkable. My suggestion is to add a small Nespresso machine. The coffee served at the breakfast was great. There is a wonderful full-service market (Coop) a few steps from the hotel. We found this very convenient as most of Wengen is closed right now. The train service is fantastic! The train runs about every 30 minutes down to Lauterbrunnen where you can take connecting trains to other remarkable towns in this area. The view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley from the Silberhorn view rooms is breathtaking. I sit out on the terrace and just marvel at it’s beauty. My husband and I both said “we don’t want to leave this magical place”. I highly recommend the Silberhorn when visiting the Lauterbrunnen area. All the staff are great, the location couldn’t be better and the views are AMAZING! Thank you Julia for helping us arrange our amazing Glacier Helicopter flight, answer our numerous questions and always greet us with a warm smile and delightful conversation. Thank you Mr. Feller your warm welcome, attention to all details and professionalism.…
We arrived at the station and just had to cross the road. It is only about a hundred yards to the cable car and you can ski back to the door. So, a pretty much perfect location. Our room was a bit small and hadn't been cleaned properly as I found a hanky when I moved the bed but it was comfortable enough. Top marks for the food. The breakfast buffet was vast with a good choice of cold and hot options plus cereals with the option to ask for omelettes. Dinner was 5 courses including a salad buffet, again with plenty of choice. The Bulgarian barmaid in Bar Anonym was very friendly. All in all a great place to stay when skiing in Wengen.
Rooms a bit dated but location for station, town and slopes great. Superb Spa. Buffet breakfasts were great too. The bar run by Kay was excellent. Staff very helpful. Boot/Ski room leads out to the snow.
Stayed at the Silberhorn for 2 weeks ski holiday. The hotel and staff were all excellent. Food was really good from breakfast to evening meal. The hotel facilities and rooms were very good too. We had a balcony room with great views of the mountains. Would definitely recommend.
