This was the only hotel available when we stopped in Meiringen. We were surprised to find that they charged twice the single rate for two people sharing one room. The room was ok, but nothing special apart from the view and a balcony. We also ate there, having the table d'hôtel, which was very poor for 45 Swiss francs each.... More

We used this hotel early September as a base for motorbike trips around the Swiss Alps. It is a very clean hotel, rooms are comfortable and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The reception were helpful with local knowledge and the restaurant staff assisted us with our schoolboy german! The sauna and swimming pool provided a welcome refreshment after... More

The first thing I would say is that all the staff appeared very helpful and friendly and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The main thing is that if you look at the pictures of the hotel it looks good. However in reality it is very tired and basic when you consider the rates they charge. Most things are... More

The hotel's facilities need some more extra care (old carpets, bed...) and the pool is pretty small with ice freezing water so we couldn't take advantage of it... That said, we really enjoyed our stay due to a very cooperative and pleasant staff, good breakfast and very nice dinner, amazing view from our small balcony, good location and a very... More

Sherlock Holmes has an excellent curb appeal & good ambiance. The rooms a little smaller than my liking; yet clean & livable. The staff is very hospitable as most of the Swiss hotels possesses. Meiringen is one of the most beautiful places of Switzerland. Sherlock Holmes died at the waterfalls of this city (in the movie of course).

We stayed at the Sherlock Holmes hotel in May 2016 for 5 nights and we had a lovely stay. We booked the hotel though a Dutch travel agent (Vrij Uit) and got a nice deal on a double room (sitting room, bedroom and large bathroom) including half board. They also give a free return ticket for the Rueti Bergbahn. On... More

I've been visiting this hotel once a year for quite a while. It was always exciting to come back because there is such a classic old school charm about it. it's a pretty good value. if you want perfection and modern style it's probably not for you. otherwise it's warm and friendly with everything you need.

Quality for price not as expected. Our room needed renovation urgently. Beds were very hard and cheap. The smell in the room was like in an old shoe cupboard. The bathroom was very small and old. The carpets were worn out. Won't stay a second night.....

The Sherlock theme goes far and wide here, with even the shower curtains boasting the classic cap and pipe silhouette of Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective. Hotel is a short walk from the train station and extremely close to the gondola up the mountain, so convenient for those carrying ski gear. Comfy clean rooms. Ideal hotel for families with a... I stay at this establishment each time I visit central Switzerland. It is a clean, friendly and very welcoming hotel in a very picturesque part of the country. Meiringen is a very small, quiet town to the east of Interlaken with excellent road, rail and Postbus connections to the attractions of this part of Switzerland. Easy access to Grindevald (for...
