We stayed here with a group of friends for a weekend in February. As we haven't had much snow, the hotel was not very busy at the weekend we were there. The hotel is very grand, but also unfortunately dated. The manager (who was only there during the day) was very helpful and forthcoming, unfortunately they were very understaffed. The...

I must declare I stayed here because I was having a Sherlock Holmes moment In Meiringen. We walked from the train station through the village and down Bahnhofstrasse to this fine old hotel – together with scaffolding out the back. The reception guy at the hotel had an eccentric sense of humour but got us to our rooms that were...

Stayed at this hotel while on a Great Rail Journey. On first impression, hotel seems fine but afraid that this not born out by experience. Everywhere are signs of lack of maintenance and investment. Our room is great, almost a junior suite, but a piece of skirting board is missing. The shaver socket in the bathroom is covered by a...

This is a very nice traditional hotel, with history relating to the Sherlock Holmes stories. Just a short walk from the station and the cable car to Alpen Tower. The décor is really lovely, reflecting the Belle Epoque era. The dining room is large and grand with the same lovely décor. We were delighted with our room which was spacious...

This is a lovely Belle Epoque building with beautiful public rooms covered in art design. The dining room is in the grand style of the era and served quality, tasty food in good portion. The bedrooms are a little tired but very large and comfortable with sofa and easy chairs. The room I had was double aspect with lovely views...

I stayed here over Christmas and unfortunately they are in the middle of renovations and appear to have no resident manager, and Reception/Staff are not there after 8 o clock apart from the kitchen and bar! So very difficult when a room key needed re-scanning and nobody in the office to do it. On this occasion our Tour Manager had...

The location is good, both for the railway station and the cable car. We unfortunately hit a time when they are in the middle of renovations and there seemed to be nobody in charge, and Reception deserted from 8 pm onwards. I understand they are in between managers and have conservation problems with their renovations. On the plus side, I...

Stayed 7 nights with Great Rail Journeys. Lovely hotel, very nice large rooms with large bathrooms (bath and shower), drinks facilities and even a fridge. Hotel decor showed its `maturity`, however this added to the ambience. We had a corner room on the rear with two side facing windows. Only five mins. walk to railway station with a frequent service...

A pleasant hotel in the centre of the town in walking distance to all the visitor attractions. Rooms were comfortable and the breakfast good. A old hotel with many period features and the added interest of the Sherlock Holmes stories, the staff were excellent and the parking good.

A fabulous holiday was partly spoilt by this hotel. Location and appearance of the hotel Both very good with lovely view from large bedroom. Food was a different matter. The breakfast buffet was good but dinner was dreadful ! Had to pre-select from menu in morning--- no choice for first course or dessert and the some awful main courses every...
