Excellent location - a short walk from train station and First gondola, and close to 2 grocery stores. You get a bus pass with your room, which will get you anywhere around Grindelwald. We were in a balcony room, which had a great view that we never got tired of. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. It's a family-owned hotel run by friendly, helpful people. I hope we can return to the area, and if so we will definitely stay here again.
I write this review even if I did not manage to stay because of Covid. My booking was during Covid, so I could not enjoy my stay there. They quickly issued a full refund for that stay, which was really nice.
A great little hotel in the middle of Grindelwald. Kind, helpful and attentive family to look after you. Comfortable rooms and a good breakfast. No dinner on site but a great value deal with the restaurant literally across the road for evening meal if you choose.
Fantastic hotel and wonderful views. · The owners and staff were very friendly and exceedingly helpful. Room perfect with small bathroom and balcony no complaints, bed very comfortable everything you needed. There is a kettle but do have your own tea or/and coffee bags as not supplied. Breakfast all you could eat and more perfect. The view of the Eiger from the bedroom was a dream come true! There can't be a hotel with a better view it was amazing . Thank you for a wonderful stay we will be returning!
Do not hesitate to book this hotel; it has been there many years, but they still work hard to make you feel you are at home. One of the highlights was the breakfast each morning, with many local cheeses and fresh baked breads.
The Tschuggen sits modestly a little apart from the Grindelwald Main Street on which it is located. It is a simple, pared back place which luxury seekers should avoid, but what it does- a great view, a huge breakfast, and friendly, genuinely family based service, it does excellently well and has done for 20 years.
We are so glad we picked Hotel Tschuggen! Owners Monica & Robert are very helpful, and friendly. Rooms are great, Eiger balcony views! Very nice breakfast. 7 minute walk to train or Gondola lift. Take the Dinner offer you buy through the hotel for Barry’s Restaurant across the street. Great value for large portions, fun place, one of best rated restaurants in Grindelwald!
We stayed here 4 nights and it was the most perfect base to explore the Jungfrau region. It’s an easy walk to the train station, cable cars, funiculars to get up into the mountains. It’s surrounded by good bars and restaurants. The view of the North Face of the Eiger was stunning- we enjoyed many a beer on our balcony watching the Eiger, the tiny trains climbing up its lower walls, the changing cloud cover. The owners are simply delightful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They checked which hiking routes were open, found alternatives for us when snow closed the routes. We can’t recommend this lovely hotel highly enough.
We stayed here for 1 nights to visit Grindelwald. The hotel room is ok, the view is wonderful as in the picture, breakfast is good. However the customer service and the attitude of the reception man who talked with us right when we checked in is absolutely not professional. We only stayed for a night and found another hotel for the next day
Very friendly and accommodating. Location is absolutely ideal, right in the center of town and an easy walk from the train station. Rooms were spacious by european standards and very clean. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
