Very loud at night. Very old room, broken bed, mattress is so old, that it is a u-form. Toilett absolutely gros, water leakage, brown inside the toilet, shower yellow. Worst hotel I stayed at ever!!!!!!
Stayed there for two nights and booked directly at the hotel. Prices are quite fair. Room was nice and clean but the bathroom could need a full renovation. Hotel is located close to the main street in Grindelwald but the is no traffic noise to be heard in the room - even with open windows during summer. Breakfast was good and healthy. Only 5 minutters walk to a lot of good restaurants.
Efficiently run value for money hotel with excellent facilities and professional engaging staff.A three star hotel which punches above its category The breakfast is amazing- cold and hot buffet freshly squeezed juices and smoothies Cold buffet included smoked salmon jambon cru salami ham and choice of cheeses Hot buffet included scrambled eggs streaky bacon and mini veal sausages A three star hotel which provides face flannels is unusual and says a lot. As the hotel was not full we were given a free upgrade to a balcony mountain view and as it is thankfully on outskirts rather than crammed enter of the town it is a more authentic alpine experience The rooms are modern and clean with importantly a comfortable mattress.I only have one suggestion is the stuffing of the pillows has completely disintegrated and needs replacing but this is a minor constructive criticism. We must give a special mention to Christina, hands -on engaging professional general manager who is an absolute delight and nothing is problematic or beyond her. We look forward to a return visit and this will always be our first option…
This is not a luxury hotel per se but it makes up in many ways It is just outside the town centre but still easy walking distance with ample parking The room is modern simple but importantly quiet clean with a comfortable mattress All the amenities and facilities are there including a safe - we could not have wished for more and at such a reasonable ratite was beyond our expectations The personnel and staff were professional and engaging - it created a pleasant ambience The breakfast was exceptional with a diverse choice and importantly fresh - I would have expected such a breakfast in a five star hotel not so Congratulations - keep it up we will be back
We are self touring with friends around Europe. Travelled to the Grindelwald region and booked 3 nights at Hotel Residence. Very comfortable stay, clean rooms, decent sized bathroom, good shower. Breakfast was included, with enough choices to pick from. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and spoke English , so that made check in easy. We booked 2 rooms , both opened on to a lounge area with a small kitchen, we didn’t use the kitchen other than we made use of the fridge. This area opened on to a balcony facing Eiger mountain and was a lovely place to sit in the afternoon with a wine before heading out to dinner .This extra space was a fantastic bonus, we felt like we had an apartment to ourselves. Fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.
Nestled in the midst of snow capped mountains, this property is amongst the best for its efficient service and hospitality in the town. Christine, manager at the property is awesome. I travel with family and our usual hotel stays are at Hilton, Marriott, and Taj. The amenities and infrastructure might not be that of a five star, but service standards are a class apart. The staff is polite, Curtiss, and tries to accommodate your request. Needless to say, the enchanting views, clean and comfortable rooms, and fabulous service makes this hotel one of the finest in this town. So if your extreme sports in Switzerland commence in this town, don’t miss the great hospitality at this hotel .
We stayed for two nights, in the apartment on the 4th floor. We enjoyed the 3 bedrooms - all good size and 1 with on-suite, with kitchen and small lounge. Beds were comfortable (all with skylights) but pillows were modest. The quality of the fittings (bathrooms and kitchen) were not really maintained nor properly installed in some places. The curtains in one of the rooms came off every time we opened the window. The layout of the spacious apartment was great and with lovely views of the gorgeous mountains. The lady at the reception did not seem to be much interested in customer's view. The breakfast buffet was fresh and coffee also good. Location of the hotel is quiet and near Pfingstegg gondolas, and the "Gletscherschlucht".
I enjoyed my weekend stay. Clean and friendly hotel, excellent breakfast with cold cuts, cheese board, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs etc. Big free parking. Great quiet location yet 5 min walk only to the main street. Views to die for. I would stay again.
We stayed here after Christmas, for skiing and had a very nice time. The hotel itself is rather old and could use a bit of a makeover but the room was clean and had everything we needed. The only minus here was that the "double bed" was actually 2 single beds, which were put together. Also, the walls are quite thin, so you can clearly hear if someone is talking outside of your room. The breakfast was okay and the staff mostly friendly. To the gondola station "First" it only takes about 5 minutes to walk and there is also a bus driving there. To the city center you need about 10 minutes by feet.
The hotel is conveniently located, the Jungfrau in front of the hotel is breathtaking. However, it urgently needs renovating! Stained carpets and musty smell. Our terrace was full of cigarette stubs. Would not consider returning. Too expensive for what it is.
