The service was attentive, friendly, and Swiss-superb throughout. The location perfect (a quick walk uphill from city center, close but far enough to be amidst the summer mountain flowers), and the room rustic and very comfortable (our “non-view” family room had jaw dropping balcony views of the Mattenburg and Wetterhorn). The patio was the perfect place for an after hike bier or spritz, and the restaurant (for both dinner and included breakfast) was phenomenal, even our childrens’ requisite schnitzel was special. We love Das Bodmi! We didn’t take advantage of the spa… that’s on us, not Das Bodmi We will absolutely be back!
We are guests of Bodmi for 20 years now and we still feel at home when we come to Bodmi. The food is very nice, so wonderfull to enjoy after a great day of skiing! Everyone is very friendly: at the reception, breakfast, lunch, diner, also housekeeping! Rooms are spacious and very clean. We will keep coming back to Bodmi!
Top Hôtel well placed.. On top of the village it has more sun than down . The SPA is top clean. The rooms are comfortable .Pretty good beds. The crew people are kindly no claim. We have had the chance to let our car until 4PM in front of the Hotel even after 11:00AM, check out time. Appreciated . Thanks.
After emperor macron banned Brits we had to change our Xmas plans. Found a reasonable deal on Expedia that I could cancel up to 48hrs before. All went well and we arrived OK. The hotel is above the town and has a ski school right outside the window. It's a typical family run Alpine hotel. Quite comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, the staff were all friendly and we ate dinner there each night which was also good. Pricing was typical for Swiss Alps.
We have stayed there as a family with a child age of 3 years. We had a standard room towards the south side with a balcony. There are some rooms on the darker north side and some in the corner which I believe will have views towards the south and the side. As family with kids, I found the location awesome. We could send our kid to the ski classes next door and in the afternoon I could ski with him right in front of the hotel in the bodmi arena. In between some snacks in the hotel (food truck) or just relaxing in our room as it is just a stone throw away. In the evening we did sledging on the hills of the bodmi arena. We never left our hotel area actually and my son loved every moment. The room was amazingly clean. My wife is a cleaning freak, and she was impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are very spacious. I have seen much smaller rooms. There are free parkings available though. We never had an issue getting a parking when we went away for dinner or groceries. But: The hotel has a many wooden elements. So are the walls. Soundproof is very bad. You can hear everything from the neighbor’s room or corridor. But nobody complained about our son’s noise. The lift is a joke. First, it’s the slowest lift I have ever seen. Second, pressing the button while the lift is in use doesn’t work. The light goes on which indicates you called the lift but as soon as the person in the lift got out the light of the lift button goes off as well. You need to wait till the lift reached it’s destination floor and closes. Then you can press the button and call the lift. Breakfast is very simple, actually too simple for me. I would like to have more varieties on cold cuts, bread or cut vegetables. I can recommend this hotel for singles or couples planning for ski classes or need a place near the skis slopes coming from First down. Nevertheless, we missed a kitchen which is important when you travel with toddlers. Eating out in Grindelwald can be nice and romantic but with toddlers a bit difficult. You need to take your car or would have to walk down the steep road. The is no bus service after 7 pm. The hotel has also some apartments which were not available at our scheduled vacation there.…
Only stayed for one night but wish we could've stayed longer. Arrived late after restaurant closed but was generously provided with food and wine in our room. The view from the balcony of the Eiger was amazing. Room was very comfortable. Hotel was a bit up on the hillside off the main street, beautiful and quite location. Staff was so nice and friendly. I will definitely stay here again.
Das Bodmi is a queit and very nice hotel on the Bodmi Alp with fantastic views on the Eiger and other mountains. The rooms are spacious. A busstop is very nearby. From the hotel you can walk (little bit steep) to the cable car station of First.
First of all, the location of this hotel is exactly where its supposed to be. its far from the noise of the center, but still close enough to walk on foot (there's also public transportation if needed, the station is right next to the hotel). The room: The location of the room was breathtaking, we booked the southern suite which looks at the eiger mountain, so the view from the balcony was even better than we thought. The suite is beautiful, it is well designed, clean, and it has everything we need (besides a fridge, but the hotel reception offered us to put anything we need in their fridge). the balcony is very large, there is a nice seating area on the balcony. The hotel also included a nice little surprise (heart shaped roses on our bed) which was a lovely surprise. the room also included some snacks, bottled water and soda. The food: the Breakfast buffet was high quality and everything was fresh, you can also order food from the kitchen (I usually would order fried eggs with bacon and a cappuccino) which is also included in the hotel rate. everything was well made, gourmet quality and very tasty. Dinner is the same thing, and I would also add that the dinner price is not that expensive as compared to swiss restaurants, but the difference is that the hotels' dinner is also of high quality, and quantity was more than I expected (I like food and I'm a large person who eats bigger portions and the quantity of the food was enough for me and then some) The service: The hotel is advertised as a family business, and this is exactly how it felt like. The hotel is small and cozy, the staff is made of a small amount of people who are quite friendly and service oriented, especially Luis! :). we got to meet everyone including the chef when they sit outside at the end of the day. basically, amazing service!! Extras: *There's a special hotel discount for public transport and attractions in grindelwald for the hotel guests (recommended if you dont have a swiss travel pass) which was give to us at our check-in. *The hotel rate also includes the wellness area, a secluded area of the hotel which includes a finnish sauna, a steam room, cold and hot showers, a training bicycle, changing area and a relaxation area with included hot drinks (tea, water etc...). you can book the wellness area all to yourself for one hour. *free car parking for those who come by car The location: Grindelwald has a ton of activity, we booked 5 nights and we barely scratched the surface. we climbed the first, went to lake bachalpsee, climbed to the jungfraujoch, went mountain biking and visited lauterbrunnen and interlaken. and there's still lots more to do, the hotel staff have excellent tips. one downside of grindelwald is that everything is pretty much closed after 18:00 or 19:00pm, so make sure you plan out your day and wake up early. but this is also true of all switzerland, even the airport closes all its shops at 20:00pm, high tourist areas like zurich or zermatt have places that close in the late hours of the day (like 23:00 or 24:00pm) but mostly, 19:00pm is where you have to finish your day.…
We arrived at night and despite the late hour check-in was smooth. Annia at the front desk went out of her way to make us comfortable. It was a dark, rainy night and we couldn’t see anything from our large balcony. The next morning we woke up to a beautiful day and the most breathtaking views of the mountains. The apartment itself is beautifully appointed with all facilities. Although the dishwasher had broken down someone came in every day to do the dishes. There were plenty of fabulous hikes from area.
wonderful view of the stunning mountain landscape of Grindelwald. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an elevated location, but you can walk to the center in about 5-10 minutes. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace with this view is worth a visit. We enjoyed the trip very much and we will definitely repeat it
