we had an upgrade to a "chalet" , which was extraordinary nice - enjoying the spacious terasse and the bathrooms as well; the only thing we missed was a working charging station for our hybrid BMW, the location is perfectly close to the center - and all facilities of Jungfraujoch railway - but you hardly hear the trains ........................................................................
This is a lovely five star hotel only let down by disappointing food. Yes, we were in a tour group staying for a week but the food started off being five star but, a couple of days in, ended as a two star! I was disappointed by the huge drop in standards particularly in the vegetarian dishes.
Dear Schweizerhof, my stay with you was generally good. However, for a 5 star hotel in Grindelwald I expect more. The food was normal, sometimes even mediocre... Since we were a big group, we couldnt chose from the menu, but were served either vegi or normal food. The rooms were fine, but the beds were pretty uncomfortable. I still suffer from a stiff shoulder. The pillows also seemed to be quite old, since they were pretty flat and had chunky "bodies" inside, which didnt improve my sleep quality either. Lastly, it was permanently too warm, especially in the hallway and the restaurant. In times of climate change and energy shortages because of Russia's war, you dont have to heat up the whole building to 25 degrees or more. Other than that, the stay was fine, but not a 5 star stay. Thank you.…
It was an excellent stay at Schweizerhof Grindelwald Hotel. The service was excellent, the personnel very kind and nice, I highly recommend this hotel for the best possible experience in Grindelwald. My room was very clean, an authentic alpine style.
Beautiful Hotel in a great location, rooms are outstanding and staff are friendly. The Quality of the Hotel Schweizerhof is very high and would recommend. Facilities are great and restaurant/food are to be commended.
This hotel is a fairytale. We arrived in a cold december night and the streets were all empty and dark. The moment we stepped inside it seemed like we had been transported to another world. The main lobby area was a Halmark movie representation of a Swiss cottage in the best sense. The fireplace was lit, there were people dinning and talking at the restaurant and the bar and at the fireplace lounge area. There was a lady singing and playing the piano. Never felt so warm in my life. At check-in we were informed that we had received an upgrade because we were celebrating our 10th year anniversary. We went upstairs to our room and were greeted by a suite with an unreal view for the Eiger mountain. The Suite was charmingly old looking but was in fact very modern. There was even an antique wardrobe that was actually a mini-bar. Great attention to detail. Breakfast was great and the buffet options were endless. There were tons of pastries and traditional regional bites to try on along with hot beverages made to order by the barman. The hotel also has a library area beside a lounge with a fireplace where you can sit all day long reading books and ordering drinks and pastries from the bar. At one opportunity I asked the barman for a Mocaccino and he wasn't familiar with the drink, so he asked me how I'd like it to be made it he promptly did it. A lot of other places would simply say they don't make it. We used the private spa which is simply a jacuzzi in a closed room but has great ambiance with rose petals, music and glasses of proseco, so totally worth it for a romantic time. We also hang out by the indoor pool which has views for both the patio and the mountains. Finally we went to the hotel restaurant at night to taste their Fondue, which is served in a separate area due to the smell. It was very good overall with bread and potatoes and it was smelly, like good cheese fondue is supposed to be. We spent an entire day inside the hotel just enjoying all it had to offer and it was awesome. We couldn't have asked for a better anniversary!…
As usual our stay was great. I really like this hotel, The breakfast is exceptional. The bar is great, service is excellent everyone make an effort to adapt to your language. My only critic would be the wifi coverage in the chalets. While it was excellent in the main building it was impossible to connect from the chalet, but that was not a big issue for us as we had good 4G.
Nice place but for the price it isn’t worth it. Rooms are small and beds are old and not that comfortable. I would say the rooms are a typical 3 start hotel room quality. The restaurant is really nice though and great location. This is typical for Switzerland, their 5 start hotel rooms are lacking compared to other European countries. Would recommend a 3 or 4 star place when visiting Switzerland as the room quality is equivalent.
Although overall good feeling and stay was comfortable, staff service & attitude was disappointing. Staying in a five stars, we would expect some more attention and professionalism from the staff. For example, we would expect a good morning, good evening or enjoy your day when crossing staff people (and at least an answer when greeting was given from our side). Service at dinner was especially disappointing, with plates throwed on the table without any description and no idea about wines and wine service… Quite some room for improvement here! Junior suite was OK and sauna and swimming pool was nice.
We spent 5 nights at the Schweizerhof. This was our second visit! It was great. The half board meals are excellent. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. What a lovely thing it is to ski all day and then relax at the pool before going to the dining room for a delicious dinner. The live piano player each evening was also quite a treat.
