Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

the rooms are 40 m2 large, you have all the modern comfort and design inside a very old building. Our room looked at the cathedral. The room is nice an spacious and the location coulld not be better if you plan to tour Soleure. Breakfast served at the restaurant nearby was also very good and service people very kind.

This is a typical good example of modern Swiss hotel business. The hotel is located in three very old buildings in the center of the pretty, small town of Solothurn. The rooms have been renovated some few years ago in very clean and clear design. No spiffy luxury but love to the detail and great handicraft work are visible. Very comfy beds, nice modern bathrooms. A very delicious breakfast with plenty of local food and perfect (!) bread (if you love this type of real Swiss bread) is served in the own restaurant.

This small and beautiful treasure lies on a quiet spot within the old town. The rooms are small but neat with great architectures and come with a good collection of books. Breakfast is served at the restaurant an gives you everything you need for a good start for a city trip or such. The rates are a bargain and the staff is very friendly. I felt at home and the Baseltor will certainly be my first choice again for a next visit to Solothurn

This is a small hotel and restaurant located inside the old town of Solothurn. The room that I stayed in was modest but very tastefully furnished. It is quiet at night and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good, although a bit pricey. The breakfasts were very good. The wifi in the hotel is really not great. I used the data on my phone instead most of the time. Overall, I thought this hotel was great value for money for what I got - location, style and comfort. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

We stayed here in one of the tower rooms. It was just beautiful and a privilege to stay in such an old yet comfortable building. The room was lovely with everything we needed and more. The breakfast the next morning was fresh and plentiful with locally sourced offerings. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Definitely hope to return. Well done Baseltor! An amazing stay.

I just stayed in this hotel for 1 night on business. I arrived very late but they accommodated my late arrival. My room was across the street in an older building. The room had a suite with 2 separate beds which were comfortable. I think I got this room in a separate building because I arrived so late. Not the best room for someone travelling on business. It did not really have a desk but the room had a bit of space and a beautiful view of the cathedral. The room did not have A/C but opening the windows cooled off the room nicely. The downside was that I heard all the street noise and was woken up to the bells of the cathedral. The wifi was a bit spotty but improved a lot when I was in the restaurant in the morning. The separate building may not have as strong a wifi as the main building. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and standard European fare, meats, breads, musli, yogurt, and boiled eggs. I liked the quaint history of the hotel and if vacationing would definitely stay at this hotel again. The history of the city centre definitely has an allure that would be nice. If travelling on business and you need good wifi then suggest you might want to make sure you are in the main hotel building.

We had an East facing room. When I made a remark about the rather thin curtains, I was told that these would black out the room quite nicely, thank you. They didn't. Room's nice. 40 (!) power sockets. Wifi is patchy. Food's good. Wines are overpriced.

I stayed at the Baseltor for work. I had a beautiful room, very modern, overlooking the catedral. It was incredibly large for an European room. Linens were very adequate, the room was very spacions, the bed very comfortable. My room had a couch and table on which I could work, as well as a separate toilet and shower. It had a burner and small fridge. Reception happens in the restaurant, but all staff were attentive and fast. It was very clean. It is located in the heart of old Solothurn. I would definitely recommend it and go back.

I spent a week here while working locally. My room was compact but cosy and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was outstanding and the restaurant food was excellent and was always full. Location is great and is easily within walking distance of the whole town. Next visit I will certainly choose to stay here again.

Solothurn is a beautiful and quaint medieval old town on the banks of the Aare river... stunning small town to visit and discover for anyone visiting Switzerland. Great little cafes, bars and restaurants on the shores of the river, stunning old buildings. The Hotel Restaurant Baseltor is located at the heart of the old town, and offers, as its name indicates, both restaurant and hotel facilities. A great breakfast is served in the restaurant in the morning. The 'Design Loft' is a fantastic option ensuring a spacious and comfortable stay. The room is divided in two parts, separated by a cabinet wall, creating a 'living' and a 'bed' room or space. Definitely the hotel I will stay on my upcoming visit to Solothurn, and I highly recommend it!
