This is an old romantic hotel with nice atmosphere, great service, a la carte breakfast and very good location as regards proximity to city center. Certainly needs some renovating, trains pass by quite often, some room issues but the overall experience is nice and so different from the various hotel chains.

Room Tip: Possibly the rooms facing the park are quieter. Also superior rooms are larger. Not sure how hot...

The infrastructure in this hotel is largely outdated and needs a serious make-over. However it has its charm and the location is perfect to visit the old town. The suite we had gives to the rail tracks in front. It's ok as long you don't want to sleep with open windows. And the view is nothing to write home about. The true gem is the restaurant and its staff. A generous serving at breakfast, very personalized. An interesting menue and fantastic wine card with lots of local wines. The personnel is totally dedicated to please the patrons. We truly appreciated our stay.

We stayed one night at Hotel Park Vila, and were pleasantly surprised with the grandeur of this lovely hotel. The hotel is ideally located, not too far from Old Town. The owner is heavily involved in running this hotel, and appears to take great pride in the service offered. The room we were provided was quite spacious, and clean & tidy. We dined in, and found the food and wine selection to be very good/extensive. Breakfast was a la’carte (not buffet). We’d probably stay here again if/when we visit Shaffhausen again.

We stayed in this hotel while bike riding around Lake Konstanz. It was old, no aircon but friendly. Not a lot of English speaking people there but that is our problem for not speaking their language. The room was small, clean but hot and stuffy as we could not open the windows due to the incredible heat outside. Breakfast was different but there was plenty. We barely touched the amount they gave us, croissants, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, bread, cake, juice, coffee/tea. Memorable. I would recommend this hotel as long as you do not want fancy and it is way up the top of town so a good walk into town for dinner if you do not eat there which we didn't.

A gorgeous old hotel with a friendly receptionist. A nice welcome bowl of fruit. Very small double bed in a hot unairconditioned room and when asked for a fan was told there were not enough for one for each room. Really? Very tiny skinny shower with plastic shower curtain that stuck to your body all the time while the water was running and also seemed a little like an ankle bath due to problems with drainage. Breakfast had the best muesli and fresh cooked scrambled eggs.

We had a very memorable overnight stay as part of a driving tour in Germany and Switzerland. We arrived in sunshine, which always helps, and had a beer on the small patio area at the front of the hotel. Very pleasant. Even on this outside area, you start to experience the bizarre statues and ornaments that are scattered throughout the hotel. The lobby is packed with cases of wine, piles of assorted chocolate bars and everywhere you look there is stuff! Yes, the hotel is dated but therein lies its charm. Our room was very 'oldy worldl'y but it was comfortable, everything worked, just about. The ensuite was tiny, very old fashioned but again functional. The restaurant/breakfast room is full of character, so comfortable, again stuffed with ornaments, paintings, more statues, quite delightful. Breakfast is back to the traditional waiter service, no buffet style here. Well, you have a series of plates on your table with all sorts of delights, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, meats, cheeses, breads, croissants, really far too much, which of course can create a lot of wasted food, hence the advatage of buffet style, but what a treat! Location is okay, next to a pleasant park and only about a 15 minute stroll to the town centre. We ate our evening meal in the hotel which was of a very good standard. However! Being in Switzerland, be prepared for a hefty bill. We couldn't wait to get back into Germany!

I stayed here on business for a few days. Was a nice place - good room amenities. Easily walk-able to the middle of town and from the train station. Was clean and would stay again. The breakfast was lovely and service was very good.
