Not a nice stay. Room was very outdated, stained, not functional. Hotel wanted to charge extra money to use basic things like the safe and kitchen in the room... all just to make more money. Staff was quite unfriendly. Please contact me if you are coming to Luzern, I will be very happy to recommend a lot of other hotels that are better value for money. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
This hotel is situated in a beautiful part of Lucerne. The rooms are tiny with dated oriental decor. The hotel is dilapidated, ok for one night stay. There are great options for meals near the river rather than the restaurant in the hotel
Short story: Book somewhere else!! We booked and confirmed our stay at this hotel online. Upon arrival, were told they would have to "upgrade us", which ment being relocated to an appartment a quick 30 minutes away from the city. If you can, book with someone else, you might not get what you think you have confirmed. At all. Long story: Been travelling with my mother, 72 years of age, taking her on a trip through Europe, as we have talked about doing for years. Having been to Luzern many times before, I thought this would be a nice place to stop by, on our way to Davos. Coming in from Basel, just wanting a place from where to easily enjoy the city (mum is not too good at walking), we looked past the other poor reviews of the hotel (most of them were about cleanliness, and we thought, in Switzerland, how bad can it be?). We arrived half an hour before the hotel manager leaves (2030), where the first thing she does is to ask us to park our car in a public underground facility perhaps 200m away, and 400m down. Fine I thought, driving our rental down three stories, taking out our bags, my mum, and dragging it all to the hotel, picturing laying my head on a soft pillow. Entering the hotel for the second time, the manager proceeded to start the check in. Upon me asking her if it would be possible to get two single bed, she snuck in the news that she would have to upgrade us, so it would not be a problem as we would have two separate rooms. This made me a bit uneasy, as I wondered how big of an appartment this tiny hotel would have crammed into itself. Then telling us that it was in "a different building", she tried to make the situation better by pointing out that luckily, we had a car, which made it all a lot easier. Now bear this in mind. The car in question, is the same car she just 10 minutes earlier told me to park three stories underground, two blocks away. And how far would this place be for it to be a good thing to have a car? A shtload of far away as it turns out. She proceeds to hand me a bibles worth of printed directions, in a leaflet starting with the words, "please google where you have to go". So where was this upgrade? Approximately a thirty minutes walk along the shore of the lake, but also up up and away into the mountainside. Instead of having a room in the beating heart of lovely Luzern, we now have an appartment in a nice suburbia. The "please be quiet, and dont disturb the neighbours" sign fitting perfectly to the lovely pink kickbike left beneath our nextdoor buzzer. The apartment is big, and would be surprisingly clean, considering previous reviews of the hotel, was it not for the fact that we are nowhere near that god forsaken place. The furniture looks like my grandmas old couch, exept this one hurts when you sit in it, and the beds have paperthin mattresses of that yellow foam thing, that would make you feel right at home if you were a monk, or a prisoner from an old western movie. A few points to balance out the story: - The manager offered us to cancel our stay, giving us the option of being either broke or homeless for the night (remember we arrived late, and all was confirmed) - The appartment is clean, and has a nice view. We can probably even see the eiffel tower, being so far away and high up. - Standing in the reception, before being raped I remember thinking it was dirty, smelly (of that fondue cheese thing), and also quite greasy (you know, when the floor is all slippery and sticky at the same time) - The manager would not even spot us a free parkingticket for our building. It costs 20 CHF. Again, PLEASE DONT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL. It is an absolute shthole, and you don´t want to be had like I was. My only reason for making the reservation was the location, looking past all the other bad reviews. I booked, confirmed, and everything was in order, up until the moment she handed me my key, taking away from us the one thing I wanted from this place, the location. Book with someone else.…
We stayed here for a night and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Apart from its central location there is not a single other thing good about it. Awful smell on all the floors and rooms, tiny room and uncomfortable bed. Total disappointment.
