We enjoyed our stay here. Room was comfortable with a really good shower. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Really nice eating and drinking by the river. Get a room with a large balcony it’s worth it. When arriving by car go in pedestrian area into Furrengasse then turn left at church and reverse to hotel reception. Parking at station.
Our booking through a third-party got messed up leaving us without a room. Noelle quickly solved the problem with such grace and efficiency. She was absolutely fantastic! Also the location is unbeatable. Reserving the fifth star because the bed had the most ridiculously gigantic pillows. Both of us had a restless sleep because our heads were so jacked-up all night. Also the breakfast included was so spartan. I get that Covid19 has changed the travel world permanently, but there should have been better offerings. No fruit. Nothing for vegetarians or dairy-free.
Prime location and excellent views! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is off site but was not a problem. Getting to our actual room was like driving in Lucerne, lots of winding halls seemingly going in circles! The view from our room was spectacular! The hotel was clean, the bedding was very comfortable - finally a hotel in Europe with big pillows! The included breakfast buffet was average, nothing hot like eggs and bacon, but still good. Check in and out was easy with English speaking staff.
My daughter and I stayed 3 nights at the wonderful Hotel des Alps in late February. I think 1 of the best things about the hotel is it’s location - an easy 5 minute walk from the train station, right in the lovely old town of Lucerne and on the river. We walked everywhere during our time in Lucerne. The room was modest and the bed was too firm and narrow for my liking but otherwise it was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very satisfying with lots of great choices. We chose a room with a view of the river which was worth the additional cost. Switzerland is expensive but I think the Hotel des Alpes was reasonably priced. During one of our days we took a day trip to Lauterbrunnen / Jungfrau region which made for a long day (about 3 hours on the train each way) but was spectacular- we were lucky to have good weather. The Swiss trains are incredibly efficient but expensive. Try to book in advance if you can - you’ll save some money. We didn’t do this with our day trip b/c we only wanted to go if the weather was good, so we payed full price fare. I high recommend Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne.…
Had a great experience at this hotel. Room was clean and had great views of the bridge, historic buildings, lake and mountains. Desk staff was amazing, especially Simon who gave me a great room and helpful tips of what was happening in the city. The hotel is an easy 5-7 minute walk from the central train station which is manageable with luggage. Breakfast was continental, but still very good with local cheeses, meats, pastries, homemade Muslie and optional egg. I highly recommend and would return again next time I am in Lucerne. The entire staff I interacted with was also fluent in English which was helpful as well.
