Classic hotel just 2 minutes away from the train station. I booked a junior suit, but they gave us a Deluxe suite which was great. The television was not working properly and there is no option to cast, use the airplay or watch Netflix... considering that the restaurants, bars and museums were closed, it would have been fantastic to have a better TV system
We spend two days in Luzern to have a little time out from life.So we booked a confy Suit in the Hotel Monopol. To keep it short,We had a very excelent stay. Everything was clean and the service, the suit and breakfast was great! I had some extra wishes during my time there, witch wasn't a problem for the staff. I know that it is a hard time to visit other places and try to enjoy the atmospere behind masks and lockdowns. But after all, we did enjoy the stay and could forget a little, of all what is going on out there, in a save and proper atmospere of the hotel
The hotel itself is really good. Staff is professional and very kind. Check-in and check-out were flawless. Our room was very clean and everything was provided from towels to blankets etc. Our stay was perfect until we've decided to open a bottle of white wine from the minibar: As I poured it into my glass, I've noticed that it was transparent. Which seemed very strange but I'm not a connaisseur so I thought it might be a special kind of wine. But when I took a sip, it was a nightmare. Someone had finished that bottle before and filled it with water. But if it was only water there would be no problem. It also tasted like feces !! Yes feces... I don't know what happenned and why someone would do such a thing but that's not something you easily forget. I became pale and felt sick for the rest of my stay. The reception was kind enough to give us a replacement bottle for free but I had still drinked that "water"... I don't know how something like this happened but I'm really disgusted.…
Best location, just opposite the train station. 2 minutes to Kappellbridge and KKL. You need max 10 minutes to all sites. Cool roof top bar in the same building. Staff super nice and helpful. Rooms comfortable and bath very clean. We definately can recommend to stay here and hope to be back.
Plus: the junior suite room. Renovated, great bathroom with double sinks and separate shower, good size and decent AC (needed in weekend to keep the party street noise at night out). Welcoming staff at reception. Tea & coffee making in the room would more or less be standard for 4 stars, but sadly lacks. Minus: breakfast, despite friendly staff, is simply not 4 star level. A few bread types, exactly 2 hot dishes and for the rest decent cold options. After this we had other Swiss 4-stars and they warp the Monopol with their breakfasts, for the same 4 star price level. Hence only recommend Monopol if either the central location is essential for you or they offer a 3-star price.
