This was my second stay at Rothaus, Great value for their price. The highlight of this hotel is their amazing peruvian restaurant "Pikante" open on the weekends. I reserved saturday night and sunday brunch and it was great!. I can always recommend their ceviches, Entrecote & Pisco sours. Friendly staff and many choices for breakfast. I definitely coming back!
My wife and I traveled to Swiss for 4 days stay as a part of our Euro trip. This hotel is situated 6-7 minutes walk away from the main train station. We arrived at around 9 am, couldn't get an early check-in as the staff was in process of arranging/cleaning rooms for check-ins planned for the day. Hotel provided us a free bus pass to travel in and around Lucerne/Luzern for free. We checked-in to a cozy room. For hot water, coffee and tea you'd need to come down to reception area. Breakfast options were good (we've pre-booked it). I'd like to mention the hotel staff's name who helped us with a pleasant stay - Stefanie, Ronaldo and 1 more great lady from Sri Lanka (I am really sorry I forgot the name). They all were just superb.... If given an option, I'd like to book this hotel again, it suits the requitement of an avid traveller, who's main purpose is to explore all parts of Swiss simply by staying at 1 base location. We used to start our day early and leave the hotel around 7:45 am post having breakfast. And during our stay we explored many major attractions of Swiss. Thanks to the hotel management! …
The Rothaus Hotel is a very good budget hotel, located into the city centre, just 5 minutes from the main covered bridge. The owner and the employeas are super kind. Before arriving, in the morning, we called to cancel one of the two rooms we booked. Even if it was late to have free cancellation, they didn't charged us the penalty. The room 517 is large enough, very comfortable, clean, and has a nice balcony with a great view on Lucerne's roofs and surrounding mountains. Breakfast was essential but good. You can find machine to make espresso, cappuccino and hot milk. There is another machine for orange and ace juice. You can enjoy sausages, scrabbled eggs, ham, cheese, fresh bread, yogurt, jam and croissant. They offer parking for 20 chf while other parking costs around 34 chf. Top solution for the price and quality ballance. …
The room has no table. I was told that my room is budget room. When I booked the room, nowhere indicates the budget room has no table. Everything you have to put on bed, chairs. I have never see the bathroom tube like that. It is about half size compare with full size tube. You can only sit to take bath and can't stand up. I have never seen such a bath tube like that in my life.
Room was good, WiFi good, able to watch Netflix, which made up for the issues with the cable service, the tv cable channels did not work and no technician available. Room had A/C which worked reasonably well. Only issue was noise from other rooms, could hear every footstep on the floor above. No staff available after hours to complain to have the guests stop banging around at 0400 in the morning. Hotel is used by tourist bus group. Had guests smoking In hallway. Breakfast was like a feeding frenzy if you were there at the start, could not get a look in. In fairness the reception did advice not to go to the early session as it was “very chaotic”...... with the particular tour groups that they had in.
