Stayed for one night. I was expecting the reviews to be wrong because we only need to find a place to stay for the night, check out before 6 am. Negatives: Old building, old and very small room, hard mattress, unclean pillow, poor bathroom (I know Switzerland was expensive, but at least you'd expect something if you pay this amount... More

Stayed here while visiting Lucerne on a roadtrip around Switzerland. The place itself is old and not so inviting. It is however cheap which is a rarity in Switzerland, location is good and within walking distance of the central area. Cheap and not so cheerful but recommend for a brief stay.

What the lion lodge does well is that they inform you of all their rules, regulations and extra charges related to your stay. There was plenty of signage about checking in time and where to leave your luggage. What we didn't appreciate was the late 4pm check-in. After a long commute to Lucerne, you don't want to have to sit... More

This is a relatively cheaper place to spend a couple of nights in Luzern. Our room was pretty small with hardly any amenities but, the bathroom was spacious and had hot water. Quality of sleep was not too good since it's right next to a major road. The lodge has a tiny kitchen with a refrigerator. Wifi was spotty and... More

I traveled for almost four months through Europe and this was by far the worst hostel experience I ever had. The joke for the rest of the trip was whenever something bad or extremely good happened we'd say "well it's no Lion Lodge". The only staff I saw were sitting in the locked office and the only exchange was of... More

Not much atmosphere in this hostel. 4pm check in was a bit of an inconvenience but at least you can store your luggage. The staff member that greeted us was a bit rude. The rooms and bathrooms were clean but the shower wasn't overly practical. There was only one powerpoint in our four bed dorm. The kitchen was always wet... More

I just stayed at the Lionlodge for 3 days as a solo female traveller and loved it. If you want modern, contemp don't bother but if you're happy with old charm, original and beautiful squeakie floors you'll be happy here. The whole place was cleaned every day, the dorm rooms were spacious and provided lockers and good beds. I don't... More

I went there with a friend to enjoy a weekend in Lucerne. The place is quite cheap and well located as we reached it in 10 minutes by walk from the train station. The reception oppening hours are quite fine, as you can check in until 10 PM and check out until 10 AM, which is enough if you really... More

Horribly uncomfortable beds. Absolutely disgusting shower/toilet facilities that are not fit for purpose. The kitchen is tiny, smelly and filthy. One of the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. One positive - the hostel is close to the Lion Monument, which was a good way to kill time in the morning while waiting for the front desk to open in... More
