Due to government enforced travel restrictions from Australia, we had no choice but to cancel our reservation at this hotel. We paid in advance under the hotel’s ‘no refund for cancellations’ policy, knowing our insurance would cover costs if we were forced to cancel. Then there was a worldwide pandemic - which our insurance didn’t cover (did any?!) All Hotel Kipling could offer us was an extension to stay with them until October this year: and it is unlikely Australians will be travelling until mid 2021, and that’s wishful thinking! I did explain this to the hotel. I understand hotel have costs too, and many are struggling. But it’s pretty shameful more compassion and understanding wasn’t shown by this hotel’s management under the circumstances, and that we weren’t offered a credit for an extended amount of time. Another ‘donation’ made! (And when we do resume our postponed travel plans, we will certainly be booking elsewhere!)

We were taking a short trip through Switzerland and started in Geneva, needing a hotel for one night only. This hotel served us well, as it was a short walk from the station. The hotel had a quirky, colonial style decor that was unexpected, but proved cosy. The service was friendly and check-in quick. The room wasn't huge, but fine for a short stay. It was nice and warm, and well-equipped. The bathroom was clean with great shower pressure. Breakfast was fairly limited, and even more so for vegetarians, but fine. All in all, a god budget option, great in particular for its proximity to the main station.

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk to the main Geneva train station. There is also a tram stop nearby and the tram takes you to the city center. Our hotel room was very clean. The decorations was classy and elegant, which gave a very homey feel. The buffet breakfast selection was very good too.

We spend only 1 day in Geneva, just to meet the city and found this cozy hotel. Location wasn’t the best, however, they offer a private parking space (that’s why I chose this Hotel) and it is possible to go everywhere using public transport - accessibility is not a problem in Geneva. Staff are polite and attentive, room is confortable and breakfast is great. I recommend This place and would return again!

Kipling is in a wonderful location - very easy to walk all over Geneva. There are restaurants close by as well. Our room was extremely comfortable. The only odd thing was the toilet was in a different room than the bathtub/shower. We got used to it - not an inconvenience. The staff is helpful. Given all of the very pricey hotels in Geneva, I wasn't sure what we would get with Kipling, but we were pleasantly surprised.
