Had an excellent stay here with the family. The staff is making every effort to make you feel at home and cater your every need. We arrived late at night and they had some fruit and snacks ready, and not to forget champagne. After checkout we went for a walk, when we came back the car was parked out front with the luggage in. The rooms are also nice with plenty of room for me and my wife and son.
This hotel for me is the definition of luxuary. Big rooms comfy beds, amazing shower a TV like a mini cinema all the staff doing everything they can to make the stay special. If I had any complaint it was they tried too hard. I also missed the breakfast because I was hungover but that's my own fault. But it's the best hotel I have ever been hungover I slept like a baby
I am not waiting to write a review until the end of our 3 day visit. This boutique hotel is splendid. How great to stay in an intimate hotel with a spectacular view of the lake. The welcome was over the top, the service is friendly and flawless. Breakfasts are generous and delicious. There are 39 rooms and 6 suites….with Amex platinum you may be fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite which is a real treat. This is our first experience with the Red Carnation chain. With a visit like this, it won’t be our last.
It was perfect. The view, the rooms, everything. The lady from de reception was very nice and always available. All the staff was great. Perfect well located. All the family loved the stay. We will be back.
The service at Hotel d’Angleterre is truly outstanding. Extremely friendly and helpful. Although it was my first time staying here It really did feel like I had been coming for years. Lots of wonderful little touches like the welcome game of Uno for my two daughters, the welcome snacks and drinks. The concierges were extremely helpful in following up with a courier service to ensure an important package was delivered on time. The room was charming and the beds incredibly comfortable. I had one of the best nights sleep I have had in years. The room service food was some of the best I have ever had. You could spend a similar amount on a room at some big five star chains with properties in Gevena but as a boutique hotel you get amazing personal service at the Angleterre.
Staying in this luxurious boutique hotel was the best hotel experience I have ever had as a traveler. I travel over 100 days a year for leisure. The lakeview room was exquisitely decorated and lots of room. The evening meals were exceptional. Try the Dover Sole. But best of all were the staff and in particular the Concierges Emilie Garnier and Nicholas Swyngedau. I am disabled and use an electric foldable scooter to get around. My scooter broke and I needed it repaired or replaced. Emilie took charge and made many phone calls to find a solution. She was able to find what was probably the only travel scooter for purchase in the city. Nicholas arranged for it to be purchased and it was brought to the hotel early the next morning for me to use. Wow and wow again. I am extremely grateful for all that was done for me to be free to get around again on a scooter. Oh, they packed up my old scooter so I could easily transport it on my airplanes for the next 60 days and send it as luggage. Be sure and stay here when you are in Geneva.…
The hotel d’Angleterre is a gem of a hotel in Geneva. It has a charm of its own. Our stay here was most enjoyable. Our lake facing room had a gorgeous view and was beautiful laid out. The breakfast was decent but nothing special. The concierge service of Mario Carvalho and Nicolas were excellent. They made sure all our requirements for food reservations, travel, car booking, and place to go and things to do were take care of in a most friendly and efficient manner. The bar in the hotel had an excellent vibe which is hard to describe but a must to experience. The music was lively and the bar service good . We had a lovely stay at the hotel d’angletter and look forward to visiting again.
This one fully fits the bill of "small" luxury hotel. It is actually not "that" small with 39 rooms, but the staff... the staff is marvelous! Even as first-time visitors, we were made to feel immediately welcomed as old friends. this started when parking our car at the front of the hotel (that may be a bit odd, as it is simply street side in a fairly narrow street of the main road, but it is has marked "Hotel only" signs when we arrived; What I noticed was that wen we got there, the valet was assisting an older lady with some extra advice and while she had his full attention, he signaled he'd be with us asap and mentioned us into the space in front of the other guest's car. From there it was "embrace." Exactly like what I expect from a small luxury hotel, but they went further. The smiles, the warmth, the helpfulness that exudes from the staff cannot be underestimated. I have stayed professionally and with family at several small luxury hotels, but this one is very noteworthy in a good way. They helped us with any request I had, and because of the staff, the service, and how the whole hotel felt, we extended our stay with an extra night (2 rooms). And we will go back. The rooms (we booked 2, and were given side-by-side rooms) were splendid. very classical in design (which we like), very welcoming and with full marble bathrooms. Cleaning and turn-down service are very well done by friendly and unassuming staff. Breakfast is either buffet style (which we took) with a good variety of fruits, cereals, proper breads, eggs, bacon, sausages, cheeses , etc) or continental or a la carte. Delicioius. We also had dinner one night at the Windows restaurant. My spuse too the special festive menu (at a great price, i might add) and the rest chose a la carte. if you're into bubbles (like we are) go for the bottle, and not the single glasses; better to put the money towards extra food. it was delicious. And again, I have to mention the people working at the restaurant. The somelier started his studies at 15 (well actually that is not entirely correct, but I'll let him tell the story himself when you get there) and is very knowledgeable while coming across as a friend advising you on the best choices. All the staff are like this, they help you making the right choices and making you enjoy the evening. I'd like to add a word for the valet(s), the concierge and front-desk staff. These people make you feel as part of the family. When we extended the stay, one of the front-desk staff expressed genuine delight. I worked in hospitality almost 2 decades ago, and I can tell you that while this is of course learned, the way this staff member reacted to us, made us feel very very at home. The same thing happened with any request we made to the concierge or valets, friendliness, eager to help, and honest when a request could not be met (like when I asked for a couple cases of Cardinal non-alcoholic beer. Could not be delivered because the brewery was no longer manufacturing it at this time). >What stays with me, now that we're back in "real life" are the smiling faces and welcome feeling we got at this hotel. obviously, the "stuff" is all top-notch. It is the people that make this hotel something special. Thank you.…
I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do this one. I had read great reviews about Hotel d'Angleterre and decided to book it for a 4 night stay during a conference in May. I would like to start out by saying that this place surpassed all my expectations!!! I had contacted the hotel about an early check in. My flight arrived at 6:00 a.m. and while they could not accommodate me that early, they communicated it prior to my arrival and made very effort to get me a room as soon as possible. In fact, even before I entered the hotel , the doorman greeted me by my name and the staff offered a much needed warm welcome after a long international flight. The hotel is perfectly situated by the lake and I was able to take a nice long walk along the lake while I waited for my room. The room and bathroom were elegant, updated and impeccably clean. The Hotel is engulfed in history and houses tasteful artefacts. The concierge and staff are fabulous. Service went far above and beyond. After a busy conference day, it was like coming home to a houseful of friends. Although not commercially advertised , this hotel offers a rare but very special leisure activity. I was able to book a cycling trip around Lac Léman with François who is the engineer for the hotel but is also a professional cyclist and has his own racing team. François made every arrangement possible for the unprepared tourist- right from organizing a racing bicycle (for a rather short person) to the right shoes with toe clips and he may even have arranged for the perfect weather. I had a tight timeline but he made sure that we had a safe and most enjoyable 75 km ride and was then met by the affable and gracious general manager Jean-Vital Domezon who drove me back to the hotel so that I could make my next meeting. While Geneva is a great city, the reason I would come back to it is to stay at Hotel d'Angleterre one more time, and perhaps ride the whole Lake Lac Léman circuit with François. This is a gem of a place!…
Great option with a perfect location by the lake. Warm and expert service. Very comfortable and well renovated rooms. Nice view of the water. Also a great bar in the basement. Would definitely return! Go for a room with a view of the lake and fountain!
