#48 of 97 Speciality lodging in Gubbio
The holiday farm "Le Volte", located just 11 km from Gubbio, offers the opportunity to relax yourself in the peace and quiet of nature where food and cooking will retain the tradition of the ancient flavors of the Duchy of Montefeltro. The structure is adapted for the hospitality originated in thousands of years, situated at 550 m. a strategic place in time of the "Byzantine corridor".Our holiday farm offers the possibility of relaxing walks with the floral nature( wild orchids, violets, primroses,...) and wildlife (deer, porcupines, hares, squirrels,...) characteristic of the territory. The holiday farm is a good place for the art lovers, because you can reach easily art cities like Gubbio, Assisi, Perugia, Spello, Cascia, Norcia, Orvieto, Todi, Rome, Urbino, Urbania, Fabriano, Arezzo, Anghiari, Sansepolcro , Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, Florence. Also is a nice place for the nature lovers too, in addition of the natural wealth of the surrounding landscape you can easily reach the Lake Trasimeno and its islands, the park of Monte Cucco and Catria, the literary park of Volponi, Frasassi Caves, the waterfalls of Marmore and the spring of Cliturno.

We booked at Le Volte simply because we had never been in this part of Umbria before. Luckily the hosts contacted us 24 hours prior with a map, because it was tricky to find! After we realized we had driven too far we found the turn and were thrilled by the switchback gravel driveway up to the farm! My mom and I were warmly greeted by Anna and Pierogiorgio and two dogs. We were the only guests and were given a large room with very ornate furniture and a wonderful view of the chapel, hillside, and valley. Dinner was simply amazing -- homemade food prepared with love, and everybody was so attentive and kind. My favorites were the eggs with fresh asparagus and the wild boar. Dessert (panna cotta with cherries) was delicious! The beds were very comfortable with plenty of blankets and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. No wifi, so make sure you are caught up with email before arriving! It was a real treat to be totally unplugged from the world for 24 hours. Breakfast was extra special with everything you would expect. We felt like family and wish we didn't have prepaid reservations the following night elsewhere as we would've stayed!

Stayed for three nights with my girlfriend in August. It was an absolute incredible time. The best food that I have ever had in Italy. The hosts are fantastic and make you feel like family. The rooms are perfect and the view is beautiful. Definitely going back.

We were so impressed with Le Volte that we visited it twice last year. The setting is excellent with terrific views all around of the surrounding mountains. Mario and his wife Anna were the perfect hosts being friendly and very welcoming. Anytime we ate there they gave us the best in local produce. The property was wonderful and full of character with even its own small church. Mario delighted in telling us the history of different aspects of the property. There was fig trees and other fruit tress around the grounds and there was even a friendly local wolf who would wander by every now and then. Relaxation is the key when staying at Le Volte but we also used it as a base to explore the beauty and joys of places such as Gubbio, Assisi and Siena. This year we are planning to go again and enjoy the best of Umbria from one of the most relaxing and scenic locations; Le Volte.
